Pokemon GO, its Push for Paid and Ticketed Events and Why This Might Be A Problem

A bunch of evolved starter Pokemon

There have been so many events lately, that it’s actually hard to catch normal Pokemon spawns. But we’ve also been getting an increasing number of paid-for ticketed events. Originally, the only pay-to-play events were Go Fest and Safari Zone events, which happened at physical locations. Last year though, Regigigas was introduced through a special research. A special research that you had to buy. While Regigigas later came out in EX raids, this paid for event was originally the only way to obtain Regigigas. Since then, we’ve had a steady trickle of more and more events. Clearly the Regigigas event did… [Continue Reading]

My Favourite Legendary Pokemon

"Gonna be honest, considering that's his ultimate form, he looks kinda derpy." - Groudon

Legendary Pokemon are awesome. Well, most of the time. They’re always cooler than normal Pokemon. Because you’re only supposed to encounter a Legendary Pokemon once, they can go ham. You can give them cool powers and cool looks, it doesn’t matter. But because Legendary Pokemon are so powerful, it’s unfair to compare them to everyone else. I’ve always loved Legendary Pokemon more than normal Pokemon. Mostly because they seem a tad more intelligent. But frankly, having the choice to pick whatever Pokemon I want, of course Legendaries win out. After all, if I could choose any Pokemon, a massive green… [Continue Reading]

The Only 5 Melee Weapons Worth Using in Payday 2

payday 2 melee

Look, I’m a busy man and you’ve probably got things to do, so today, in our standard amount of 500 words, we’re covering the only five melee weapons worth using in Payday 2. Actually, now I mention it, it’s a total of ten weapons. Because I don’t know if you own the Ultimate Edition or not, and some of these aren’t available without it. Anyway, without further ado: 1. Weapon Butt The first melee weapon you get in the game, the weapon butt, has the fastest swing speed and the fastest recovery time, which is great for heists where you… [Continue Reading]

Where did all my Houndours and Growlithes go?

Medic surrounded by Houndooms and Houndours

I haven’t seen a Houndour in days. Normally, Houndour is a common spawn where I live. It’s sunny most of the time, so I get sunny boosted spawns. As well as Houndour, I normally also see lots of other Pokemon. Growlithe is normally very common, but I’d see plenty of Pokemon like Vulpix, Pansear, Numel and Diglett as well. Even in Partly Cloudy weather, I’d still see the odd Growlithe or Houndour, and Vulpix was always weirdly common. Roselia seemed to always spawn, and in high numbers too. Sadly though, I haven’t really seen any of these Pokemon in ages.… [Continue Reading]

Thoughts on the December Community Weekend of 2020

December Community Day Spoils

December Community Day events are always interesting. Unlike previous months, which featured one Pokemon, December ones feature the whole year’s lineup. In 2018, this was quite a treat, as the Pokemon in the 2018 community days were ALL incredibly good. 2019 was also pretty good, since the 2018 Pokemon were in raids and eggs, and, again, almost all the 2019 featured Pokemon were great. Aside from Slakoth. 2020 though is a different story. Most of 2020’s community days have been… weird. The Pokemon are almost ALL Kanto ones. The only exceptions are Piplup and Seedot. Everything else is completely Kanto,… [Continue Reading]

Pokemon You Should Definitely Give Second Moves To

Pokemon with second moves - Swampert, Altaria, Machamp, Melmetal, Lucario

Second Charge Moves have always been expensive in Pokemon Go. For a hefty chunk of stardust and a ton of candy, you can give your Pokemon a second Charge Move, opening up their available attacks and giving them more leeway. The problem is, aside from a handful of Pokemon, doing so costs a huge amount of stardust and don’t really offer much in return. Most of the time, second moves only really have a use in PvP, and are useless in PvE raids, Team Rocket fights and gyms. That being said, some Pokemon do really well with second moves. Or… [Continue Reading]

I Miss Old Io

Frost defending a target on the old Io tile set

Io was always one of my favourite defense maps. Most people tended to flock to Hydron or Selene for their experience gains, but Io was always the cooler map. I say ‘was’, since Io is now a completely different location. One that isn’t nearly as cool or anything. Thanks to the large Jupiter update, one of my favourite maps is no more. “But Medic, the Jupiter update was ages ago!” You’re completely right. In fact, most Corpus tile sets aside from Europa and the ground icy missions have been upgraded. But it’s taken a while to sink in just how… [Continue Reading]

Why Wooper is the Best Thing Ever

woopers - taken from Bulbapedia

I started this article a while back, when someone reminded me that the leaked beta versions of early Pokemon games existed. I fell in love with what turned out to be an early version of Wooper. Even had it as my profile pic for a bit because it’s so damn cute. In fact, I was going to write a long article about this adorable thing. But I ended up ditching the idea for a while, simply because I didn’t have much to actually say. I mean, sure, Beta Wooper is the best thing ever, and the Wooper we ended up… [Continue Reading]

Things I Really Don’t Like in Destiny 2

A view from the Tower in Destiny 2

This sounds like a stupid name for an article. If you look at my most-played lately, you’ll see that I’ve been playing Destiny 2. More than I’ve been playing Warframe. The only games I’ve played more of lately are Minecraft and Pokemon Go. But you can’t see Steam Stats for those. This article becomes even more weird when you realize I’ve completed content like the Leviathan raid and have a nice collection of exotics. I’ve spent a lot of time playing Destiny 2, yet somehow there’s something about this game that REALLY pisses me off. To the point that I… [Continue Reading]

5 Heists That Give Easy XP in Payday 2

Recently a reader asked what heists are best for their money/XP rates and another commented “Cook Off” and… okay, he’s right. If you only care about money and XP, you really should just play Cook-off over and over. But that’s boring after a while. Instead, here are a couple of heists that I like to keep in my back pocket for quick XP. They don’t have the most experience, but they have the easiest experience to get. After all, the whole point is to make things easy. So today we’re covering five heists that give easy XP! 1. Four Stores… [Continue Reading]
