What If We Had An Actual Helminth Frame? – My Idea to Build an Actually Broken Warframe

Xaku is intended to be this strange, broken Warframe made out of bits and pieces. It’s a cool concept, definitely. But I never felt that, aside from appearances, Xaku was really that broken. After all, having three abilities in one isn’t new. Ivara and Vauban have had that for years. Heck, even the stripping of armour isn’t new! Chroma has been doing that since his release, and Xaku had to have an infinite duration gimmick slapped on to make its version worthwhile. But, more importantly, Xaku’s theme could have been better used as part of the Helminth system. Xaku is… [Continue Reading]

An Ancient Post on TF2’s Community Competitive Play

Now, there’s been some talk on the forums as of late regarding “comp elitists”.  Now, coming from someone who’s been on the forum’s UGC 4s team for both seasons, I have a bit to say, but I won’t be the most valid or most trusted compared to seasoned veterans (see what I did there? Anyone? No? Okay…) First off, let’s- … You find yourself hearing muffled sounds. Timmy is no longer here. Wherever he is now, you have no idea. He has been placed by a deranged German lunatic. One who seems somewhat angry. It seems that, after SIX YEARS… [Continue Reading]

Random Alternatives to Among Us

Among Us is the new big craze right now. Between it and Fall Guys, there’s a lot of cute backstabbing going on. But Among Us isn’t particularly new. Not at all. In fact, Mafia-style games have been going on for years in tons of different formats. I originally played my first Mafia-style game on an old writing forum and, personally, I feel like it’s still one of the best ways to play. But if you don’t fancy doing that and are looking for literally any similar game that ISN’T Among Us, well, here’s some rather random options for you. Trouble… [Continue Reading]

3 Basic Tips Every L4D2 Player Should Know

The other day I took an old L4D2 article and repurposed the topic into a Payday the Heist article. Well today, a Payday article is returning the favor due to a major L4D2 update coming out and bringing a whole host of new players to our favorite zombie shooter! I recently played through the new campaign with three friends, and we managed to beat it on Advanced Difficulty our first try. Despite this, there were a couple of basic mechanics I saw they could have been doing to drastically increase their survivability: Tip #1: Shove More. This is the single… [Continue Reading]

Khora – The Queen of All Trades

Ever since Khora came out, I’ve been saying that Khora is a strong frame. Alright, for the first few days, she was really lackluster. But after an initial round of buffs, Khora turned into a really good frame. So good in fact that she’s now considered one of the nest nuke frames around, closer to Mesa and Saryn than anyone else. But Khora has something that those two don’t – the ability to be a jack of all trades. Really, Khora has it all. She’s probably one of the strongest frames in Warframe right now. Especially with a nuke build.… [Continue Reading]

Why Do I Not Enjoy Destiny 2?

I don’t understand this. Destiny 2 isn’t a bad game. At least, it’s not the awful game it started out as. Destiny 2 had a very rocky start initially, however, it slowly managed to pull itself up. The game improved further when Bungie managed to get full control of the game. Right now though, Destiny 2 is in the middle of a massive story-based conflict. There’s massive evil dark pyramids that are threatening to destroy various places, and everyone’s preparing for war. Really, between the lore, the gun play, the setting and the fact it’s free to play (now at… [Continue Reading]

The New Left 4 Dead 2 Update is Awesome

I had high hopes for the Last Stand update, and by golly it met and exceeded all of them! For those not in the loop, in early September we got our first teaser trailer for a brand new community-created update for Left 4 Dead 2. Since then, we recieved hints and tie-in trailers promising new weapons, new voicelines, new Survival maps, and all sorts of quality-of-life updates. And did it ever deliver on all fronts! I ran through the new campaign, The Last Stand, with three of my college friends and it was a grueling run, definitely a step-up on… [Continue Reading]

A Bad Day

Normally there would be a, well, normal article here. Probably something about video games. Most likely Warframe. Occasionally I would ramble about something in my life. But I dialed back on the personal life stuff a while back. As part of a new year’s resolution or something. Anyway, yeah, normally this is a video game blog. Today though? Not at all. Heck, I am not even bothering with spell check. Or headings. Funnily enough, those annoying H4 things, I swear they slightly boosted our daily views. I’m rambling a bit today. Sorry. Although this isn’t a normal article, I will… [Continue Reading]

A Biased Guide on What to Subsume and Use with Helminth

I’m pretty biased when it comes to the Helminth system. When it comes to the surface idea, I think the Helminth system is great. But when you look more deeply at it, you can tell that it’s all a mess. The costs are arbitrary and all over the place, the abilities chosen are weird, some have been arbitrarily nerfed. And, of course, there was the Marked for Death ability that made Ash good for about five seconds. That being said, I’ve been playing around a little with the Helminth system, and I’ve come up with a very simple, very biased… [Continue Reading]

Ash is Good, but…

I’ve been playing both a lot of Index and a lot of Steel Path lately. When I play the same things over and over, I tend to not want to constantly change my Warframe a lot. I also don’t often use specific Warframes for specific tasks, I tend to prefer a generalist Warframe over a specific one. After all, Volt and Saryn are both nuke frames, but I prefer Volt due to his versatility. And while both Loki and Ivara are higher on my most-played list of Warframes, Ash has always been my invisibility frame of choice. Ash is a… [Continue Reading]
