The Weird Pokemon Go Event No One Really Noticed

Over the weekend that introduced season two of the GBL and brought back Altered Forme Giratina, something strange happened. There was clearly an event, but no one seemed to… notice. It just happened. There was no real announcement, nothing. But it was there. It wasn’t a good event, but it was there. I didn’t notice this event myself until I bought the 1 coin Incense pack and used one. Because of the current pandemic that’s sweeping the globe, Incenses have been buffed. While an Incense used to last 30 minutes and spawn 5-8 Pokemon, increasing if you are traveling, walking… [Continue Reading]

Completely Giving Up On The Pokemon Go Battle League

I mentioned a while back that there was now a ranked battle league in Pokemon Go. I thought it was cool back then. But now? It sucks. To the point that I have given up on it completely. It’s just not worth your time or your Premium Passes. Why? There’s loads of reasons why! Weirdly Small Metas Despite there being so many Pokemon, there’s already a massive, established meta. If you don’t have the meta-relevant Pokemon, you’re going to struggle. Or you’re going to spend a lot of stardust powering Pokemon up. It’s not too awful in the Great League,… [Continue Reading]

WAY Too Many Events In Pokemon Go – Are Events Becoming A Problem?

Editor’s Note: This article’s kinda weird now that places are locking down because of COVID-19, but the article does still apply because the raid events ARE still happening, despite lock downs. The major difference is that these raid events have also turned into PVP events too. Wow. This year has been absolutely jam-packed with events in Pokemon Go! We have had so much to do! In March alone, except for normal events like Community Days, we have had an event every weekend, with overlapping events too! In fact, it’s reached the point where I can’t keep up! What is going… [Continue Reading]

The Medical Necessity lore nobody asked for

Remember Medical Necessity? It was a game development project where I had my first ill-fated experience as a project manager. In the end, we got canceled due to lack of progress during the first quarter of production. The only surviving product is the purchasable sprite sheet on itch.io. The design document and production wiki note that the default names for the player’s allied soldiers are Homer, Berenson, Collins, and Cunningham. And while digging through a lifetime of old boxes preparing for my move to Portland, I found the original action figures those names came from. Their plastic has gone gummy and… [Continue Reading]

My Early Years in Videography

Today’s article is very self-indulgent, so apologies in advance. I’m just in something of a self-reflective mood because yesterday I chewed through a lifetime of old storage boxes in one evening. I didn’t really have a choice. The Goodwill van was coming in the morning, and lord knows I didn’t want the donatables sitting around for another two weeks before the next time they’d swing by. But I’m honestly glad they spurred my hand and made me sift through it all, because I found a bunch of diamonds in the rough. Old things I’d long lost and never thought I’d… [Continue Reading]

Abra Community Day Postponed and other Pokemon Go Changes

It seems like the Corona Virus is currently hitting quite hard, with reactions from “seal everything off completely because this is highly contagious!” (a good thing) to “meh, it’s just a cold!” (a bad thing). Now, I’m no expert, so I’m not going to talk about things I don’t know about. All I’ll say is that you should wash your damn hands. But I DO know about Pokemon Go. And Pokemon Go is cancelling or postponing events left right and center. Yes, events are being cancelled. The first big cancellation was that all events in South Korea, Japan and Italy… [Continue Reading]

PSA: Always Stab Your Kuva Lich

There is literally no reason to ever attempt to stab a Kuva Lich now. With the Warframe Revision update, while we didn’t get anything particularly new or shiny, we did get a long list of changes. Funnily enough though, the Kuva Lich changes were mostly minimal. Most of the changes were simply bug fixes. But the major change was the most important. Stabbing a Kuva Lich and not getting the correct combination now grants murmurs to your entire squad. This is a massive change because it means everyone benefits from the appearance of any Lich, not just their own. And… [Continue Reading]

7 Mods To Improve Your Nude Skyrim Experience

Normally aabicus is the expert when it comes to nude mods and what works best, but frankly I think nude mods work very well in Skyrim. It’s the sort of fantasy genre where you can just about imagine people running around naked. At least, some of them. But while installing a nude mod in Skyrim, there are caveats and things that can be improved. And how do we improve mods? With more mods, of course! In today’s article, we’ll have a look at some mods that make the nude experience so much more enjoyable, while also giving you a little… [Continue Reading]

Interactive Fiction

Interactive fiction. Or in other words, text-only video games. Long, long time ago, where graphical user interfaces on computers are still science fiction, interactive fiction (IF) is the only way computers can provide entertainment. That, and regular fiction. Games like Zork and Colossal Cave Adventure are basically what PC games are. Nowadays, having “only able to display text” as a display limitation is simply laughable, and game graphics have advanced tremendously. Interactive fiction is now not an obligation due to technological limitations, but a choice. And it is a weird choice, to be sure. No one plays a game expecting… [Continue Reading]

Reviewing Nominations with Niantic Wayfarer

Now that I am level 40, I can now submit my own waypoints in Pokemon Go, to be reviwwed. But I can also go to Niantic Wayfarer and review other people’s waypoint submissions. It’s all a rather simple, clean layout on wayfarer.nianticlabs.com. And I think it’s worth looking at. Niantic uses Wayfarer to determine whether points of interest in the real world are any good or not. By giving you a photo, a description, a picture of the surrounding area, some Google Maps and a 5-star rating system, you can judge on interesting things nearby. Sounds simple, right? Well, before… [Continue Reading]
