Weedle Community Day – Stardust Heaven

Weedle is the Pokemon that won last month’s Twitter vote, beating out the likes of Squirtle and Gastly. Mainly because we didn’t have a shiny Weedle yet, and people wanted something that hadn’t been in events. After all, we’d just had a bunch of Kanto events, not to mention party hat Gengar with two exclusive moves. Weedle’s shiny line is pretty cool, and it’s nice to get a Pokemon that didn’t have a shiny in the past. So, on June 20th, we got Weedle Community Day People weren’t THAT excited for Weedle Community Day. After all, it’s Weedle. It’s one… [Continue Reading]

Abra Community Day – Probably One of the Better Days Yet

Gonna be honest, the Abra Community Day was great! Unlike many other community days, I feel like this one actually stands out! Lots of Abra, lots of chances to play even if you don’t get local spawns, and lots of shinies! They even made Abra easier to catch during the event. This event was great, and I want to talk about it. This was probably one of the most accessible Community Days yet. Normally, for a good community day, you need a place with good spawns and plenty of Pokestops. You need as many Pokeballs as you can get your… [Continue Reading]

Pointless Event Moves in Pokemon Go

Unlike the main series games, Pokemon Go has a much, much smaller move pool. Because you can only ever have one fast attack and two charge attacks, you can’t use as many moves and getting the moves you want is tricky. You need to spend time wasting TMs to get the moves you want. Or you have to wait for a community day or other event to get the moves you want. But while the majority of new moves added via events are good, some of them are… weird. Questionable. Pointless even. Here are some of those moves. Ampharos with… [Continue Reading]

Rhyhorn Community Day – Not Enough Rhyhorns

Rhyhorn is low-key one of my favourite Pokemon. This is the Pokemon I voted for back in the “Community Day Voting Event” thingy back at the beginning of the year, after searching Pokestops for the task. When we were presented with the four choices – Rhyhorn, Machop, Vulpix or Dratini, Rhyhorn won by quite a lot. And on February 22nd 2020, Rhyhorn finally got a Community Day. Now, Rhyhorn is a great Pokemon. Absolutely awesome. Sure, the Rhyhorn family is weak to Grass and Water, but it’s a strong, tanky Pokemon with a good combination of damage and bulk. More… [Continue Reading]

December Community Weekend

Pokemon Go decided to end community days for 2019 with a bang by repeating somewhat what they did in 2018, by having a community day weekend, bringing back all of the year’s community day Pokemon for one final send off before leaping into 2020, while also bringing back 2018’s Pokemon. So we get two things: a collection of Pokemon from 2019 and a collection of Pokemon from 2018. One of these was done really well. The other, not so much. When it comes to the implementation of the 2019 community day stuff, I couldn’t be happier. We get two days’… [Continue Reading]

5 Pokemon You Should Be Collecting and Getting Ready To Evolve for December’s Community Day Weekend

just like December 2018, December 2019’s Community Day in Pokemon Go won’t feature one Pokemon but will in fact reprise all the Pokemon featured in community days this year, everything from the almighty Swinub to the honestly completely useless Slakoth family. But at the same time, from 9am until 9pm on the 14th and 15th of December, you’ll be able to evolve any Pokemon from a previous Community Day to get its special Community Day Exclusive Move. But with 22 Pokemon with exclusive moves, which Pokemon should you prioritize? Well, here’s a handy list for you all. 1. Meteor Mash… [Continue Reading]

Chimchar Community Day

Another month, another community day! Today’s community day was mostly normal, except for the end. The Pokemon in question was the Generation 4 starter Chimchar, a fire and fighting type that sadly not many people seemed to care about because it’s a monkey version of Blaziken, who came out not too long ago. But a chance at easy shinies and a special move is not something I’m willing to ignore, so off I went, from 11am to 2pm local time, catching Chimchars. And why not? The sun was shining, the sky was clear and blue, the weather was very warm… [Continue Reading]

Trapinch Community Day? More Like Weather Boosted Day!

Well, Trapinch Community Day was… a thing. I like Trapinch, it’s fucking adorable and Vibrava is pretty cool as well. Flygon’s alright too. But the Trapinch Community Day was a bit of a bloody mess. Why? Because there was a severe lack of Trapinch spawns. Reports everywhere in Asia and Europe are all saying the same thing, that the presence of Trapinches was very hit and miss, with some places with lots of normal spawns having nothing, some new areas having loads of spawns and other places having spawns overrun with other Pokemon. Cyprus, it seems, did alright for itself.… [Continue Reading]

The Slakoth Community Day that Really Slacked Off

I’m not sure why Niantic decided to choose Slakoth for June’s Community Day. There’s not a lot of reasons I can think of why it was picked, but I can think of plenty of reasons why it wasn’t a good choice. I suppose it fits the criteria for a Community Day Pokemon. A three-stage Pokemon with a cute basic form and a monstrous final evolution and a second evolution that no one cares about, capable of having a somewhat signature move, having some sort of use somewhere and tends to only come from 10km eggs, while being insanely rare in… [Continue Reading]

Torchic Community Day

I really enjoyed the Torchic Community Day. Just like the previous Bagon and Totodile ones, the Torchic Community day gave us three hours of KFC battered and breaded chicken fun as we baked in the sun while throwing balls at cute digital flightless birds. Mostly. Torchic Day was on Sunday rather than Saturday this month, meaning I saw a few more people wandering around. There’s normally two good spots to camp and catch Pokemon – the harbour and town hall and while I’ve always opted for town hall (because it’s shadier and you don’t get harassed by people trying to… [Continue Reading]
