Daedra and Artifacts – Medic in Skyrim Bonus Time Part 2

Oh? Sorry, were you talking to me? I was busy talking to a statue. Last time you were here, I had started a quest to gather a bunch of Deitic artifacts, because secretly I am a very evil person. I’m being accompanied by Cicero, the guy whose cart breaks down outside some guy’s farm outside Whiterun. Just an FYI before we start, there ARE Skyrim spoilers ahead. Of course. Although the game is like 4 years old now, so eh, you should probably play it. Anyway, back to adventuring. A statue of an angel just spoke to me. I think… [Continue Reading]

Daedra and Artifacts – Medic in Skyrim Bonus Time Part 1

Don’t tell Sniper, but while he’s been busy killing vampires, I’ve been sneaking around Skyrim collecting things, which makes a nice change from saving the place. You see, I’ve recently found two things: the first being UESP.net, which has so much really good information on all the Elder Scrolls games. The second thing I found was some guy drinking in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun. This guy, turns out, is the start of a so-called daedric quest. So here I am, on a bonus little two-part adventure. A quick note before we start. I WAS going to do the Dark… [Continue Reading]

MeeM’s Thoughts on Camaraderie

As seemingly the norm with the short articles I write, they start with an anecdote then use an example and close with a final thought. So, let’s not delay. The other night, I had a most wonderful hour and a half playing MvM with Medic and her friends. Although there were a few problems setting up, once we got everyone there the game started. Because it was Medic’s birthday we were doing medic only. Logically, we couldn’t do many hard waves like this so we started off by doing decoy. So, first round, six medics versus what 40 scouts(?). Pretty… [Continue Reading]

The Art of Taunt Killing

I love taunt kills. So weird and wonderful, and yet, almost completely useless. But performing a successful execution is beautiful. It’s the embodiment of satisfaction, tension and humiliation wrapped up in a bow, and all you have to do is deliver the present to the person of your choice. It’s one of many ways TF2 sets itself apart from the tedious, generic shooter. I like the applications for it as well. Going for the oblivious Sniper who doesn’t have situational awareness, praying for a cheeky kill at the end of a lost round, hoping for the lucky kill if you’re… [Continue Reading]

The Gentleman’s Gatsby

“I was wondering around the other day, using my spectacularly riotous tickle mittens to coax my fellow adversely-colored brethren into fits of eye-watering hilarity, when a kind fellow noted the bubbly intrigue of my fine trusty battle helmet I had acquired from a rather loaded fellow whose name I do not recall, his name began with “Fus” or something of the like. But anyhow the man was bewildered. “Where do those bubbles come from?! What kinds of sorcery is at play?” he asked, as he consumed a particularly large fishcake. “Well…” I replied in haste. “This is an unusual hat.… [Continue Reading]

Medic’s First Tiny Steps into Official TF2 Competitive

This article was brought to you by Puffs, the Number 1 Medic-Calmer. Puffs – pink, round, puffy and opinionated, get yours now! Alright, a million years later than everyone else, I’ve finally had a go at TF2 matchmaking, during the 6th Stress Test. (Note: this article is a bit late – I held off publishing it due to a week of love and hate) I was finally around when that delightful Stress Test button appeared on my screen, and I was actually in a good enough mood to play. But, coward that I am, I didn’t want to go it… [Continue Reading]

6 Things I Learned After 500 Hours of TF2

Team Fortress 2 is my latest obsession nowadays. Yes, this first-person shooter with cartoonish graphics may have been released in 2007, but this game still gives me fresh laughs and plenty of enjoyment today. I love the wacky lines, the teamwork you can foster, the griefers, the hats, the taunts, and all the other lovely (and not-so-lovely) chaps you can play with in order to win a round. In truth, I’ve spent the last 6 months or so accumulating around 500 hours of playtime in this game (in public servers alone). 500 hours may sound like a lot of time… [Continue Reading]

I Love My Weapons

Now, this may come as a surprise to you, but TF2 has quite a lot of weapons! I know! Gobsmacking, isn’t it? But TF2 isn’t simply a mere game of murdering the other team with things that kill stuff. It’s a game of murdering the other team with things that kill stuff that you named and fell in love with! TF2 has always been a weird and wonderful game, full of zany characters with more weapons than you could shake a stick at. But it’s one of the few games I’ve ever played where weapons used by thousands upon thousands… [Continue Reading]

A Week of Love and Hate 2 – Why I love it when others write for the Daily SPUF

Well, a Week of Love and Hate 2 is concluding, and the winner will be announced in a bit. But before we do all that, I’d like to write a little thing on the love side of this little event. When aabicus started writing for the Daily SPUF, I didn’t have much to do with it. I didn’t really write that much, it was just an occasional thing (even though both my first articles were published one after the other). Back then, back in late 2013, SPUF was a much busier forum. SCUD was a new thing and we were… [Continue Reading]

A Love of Laughter

No matter how we look at it, Team Fortress 2 is an awesome game. There’s bits we whinge about and bits we complain about, as well as stuff that really shouldn’t be in it *cough*random crits and current autobalance*cough*, and a lot of us have gone and written about the things we all dislike, for our Week of Love and Hate. We’ve also written about a lot of things that we love too. Despite how simple that sounds, it’s actually a very hard subject to write about. I spent ages trying to pick a subject. At first I was going… [Continue Reading]
