5 Short, Free, Low-Poly Horror Games That Are Worth Playing

Do you like short, free, low-poly horror games? I don’t blame you for not immediately responding with an enthusistic “Yes!” because it’s a pretty niche category, one I’d never even played until a few days ago. But in hindsight I should have realized it would absolutely be a winning genre for me. I’ve already devoted a whole week to articles on dark spooky forests, and this is something of a sequel because most of these games would have qualified. Every game in this list is beatable in a single sitting and (in my opinion) a short but worthwhile experience. All… [Continue Reading]

5 Tasty Pancake Recommendations

The pancake is a weirdly deceitful dish. Despite being made of simple ingredients, they are oddly hard to cook. TV chefs make pancakes look easy. All you do is throw some batter in a pan, flip it and boom, pancake. But in reality, pancakes are crazy beasts that take on many shapes and forms. It’s all too easy to mess up a pancake. Luckily, there are ways to improve pancakes that don’t involve too much hassle. Take your time The first big step to making pancakes that are edible is to take your time. There’s no need to rush a… [Continue Reading]

100% Achievements in Warframe: DONE

Why do I do this to myself? What convinced me that I needed to get all 193 achievements in Warframe? I suppose, when you have everything else done in Warframe, you might as well? Either way, on a rather dull Thursday morning, when I was totally supposed to be working, I did it. I got the last Warframe achievement I needed, Race Ace. With that out of the way, I can finally claim that I have more than one 100% game. Skyrim was an easy game to 100%. Warframe has taken me over 4000 hours. So, shall we have a… [Continue Reading]

Dark Spooky Forest Week: Miasmata and Rake

On the surface these two games don’t have much in common beyond taking place in dark spooky forests. The main reason they’re sharing an article is that they evoke the same feelings when played; both are satisfying exploration-based games that immersed the player like few of their competitors could. The first title, Miasmata, was one of my earliest gaming loves and I spent hours working through my first playthrough. You control Robert Hughes, a plague-stricken scientist who washes ashore a remote tropical island seeking the cure to his illness. The core gameplay involves charting the island looking for rare plants… [Continue Reading]

Medic’s Dragon Mod Recommendations for Skyrim

I love dragons. I want to be a dragon. But the closest I’ll ever get to that is my strange mod setup for Skyrim, involving the Play As A Dragon Mod and Open Cities Skyrim. Still, those two mods on their own aren’t that great. Even if you don’t want to be a dragon, the vanilla dragons in Skyrim can be a bit boring, so you might need some other dragon mods as well. Here are a bunch of recommendations of dragon mods that I think you should at least try. These are all for Legendary Edition (which is what… [Continue Reading]

Mute Crimson-

It says something about the state this game left me in when I bought it in 2015 and finished it in 2017. The thing is, when I returned to it, I couldn’t remember why I’d originally stopped playing. Repressed memories are a funny (and slightly terrifying) thing. But before we get to that, let’s cover the basics. Mute Crimson+ is a hard as nails platformer bringing something akin of the original Ninja Gaiden to the modern-day with significantly less cheap BS. but maintaining the level of difficulty that had established its reputation. Seeing this and identifying it as a challenge, I… [Continue Reading]

Transmissions: Element 120

I almost didn’t pick this game up because someone out there tagged it as “horror”. While I don’t mind horror games, I prefer not to have my time wasted by petty jumpscares with no effort to build up any kind of atmosphere, but this game wasn’t that. I’d say it was creepy, but in the same way ALL Half-Life games are. Unnerving, for sure, but it never tries to exploit the player for a cheap thrill which I appreciate immensely. Instead, it uses the properties of light and dark in interesting ways as well as providing new mechanics not seen… [Continue Reading]

Lowglow

After a run of bad multiplayer matches in several games on my PS4, I looked for a calm, stress-reliever type game… Which is when I realised I didn’t actually have one. My friends I’d played with had all jumped on Stardew Valley, understandably, considering it’s so soothing and addicting that it borders on being illegal. Meanwhile, the closest thing to that for me was Darkest Dungeon simply due to it being turn-based. Don’t let that name trick you though. Staggeringly, it isn’t about gentle strolls through meadows filled with fluffy creatures. But on STEAM, I found this dusty, uninstalled gem.… [Continue Reading]

Refunct

Refunct is, by design, simple. Astonishingly so. But that’s all it needs to be in order to be fun. It’s a first-person 3D platformer at its most pure. The objective of the game? Colour everything in and bring the world to life. It’s a giant blank colouring book you can freerun in. What’s not to love? The red beacon leads to a big red button, which when you step on it, reveals more white squares and another button… And another button… And another- But the game is happy to let you loose in the world and let you go where… [Continue Reading]

Handgun Safety Course Simulator

With games only getting bigger and more refined as the years go by, it’s unsurprising we’ve gotten used to certain luxuries always showing up in our games. Taken for granted. Reloading is one of those. We press a button and our in-game avatar reloads their weapon perfectly each time. But Receiver is the game where that convenience goes to die. Each part of the gun is operated using different keys, meaning being able to reload efficiently is half the battle. For some, to reload at all. “Pffft… How hard could it be?” You retort, arms folded confidently, perhaps an eyebrow… [Continue Reading]
