Little World-Building Tidbits I’d Like to See in Warframe

Warframe has a lot going for it. We recently had a war go in and have just started making things go back to normal. In particular, the New War did somewhat show how normal people lived, most notably for the Tenno. However, I feel like a lot of world-building lore is pretty well hidden, restricted to quests or events of the past. Here are a few ideas I’ve had, to add just a pinch of nice lore into the daily grind. Exploring other colonies a bit more “What other colonies?” you may ask. Well, there’s been a few mentioned. In… [Continue Reading]

A Call of Cthulhu Tale: The Last Stand of Barnabas Nambly

A while back I wrote an article recounting my first experience in Call of Cthulhu. Those campaigns were all set in the default 1920s setting, but there’s actually a second available time period: the 1890s Gaslight era. After having a blast with roaring San Francisco, my group chose to rewind the clock. This time we wanted to face our next eldritch threat in London on the turn of the 19th century. For me, the first curveball came when generating stats for my new character. The online generator gave me one of the weirdest builds any of us had ever seen.… [Continue Reading]

The Curious Single-Timeline Nature of Everything I Write

As you are probably aware, either from the fact that the Daily SPUF recently hit a milestone in articles or the fact that I, Medic, write all of them, this crazy individual does a vast amount of writing. In fact, I do so much writing that the article in which I mentioned we had nearly reached 2400 articles had to be updated, because I had originally written the article just before we hit the 2300 article milestone and nearly forgot to change it. In fact, I had to alter this opening paragraph to not include a number due to how… [Continue Reading]

A 2% Drop Chance

Volt rolled all four of his neural sensors as a text message came in. After waiting until the various spam and trading messages stopped coming, Volt picked a gold message at the top of the pile and began to read it. “Hello, can you help me with something?” With an organic snort, Volt picked up his little keyboard and started typing back. “Hi, Wukong, what’s up?” Volt had known Wukong for quite a long time. In fact, Volt had been the one to help train Wukong as he slowly climbed levels of mastery. Both Volt and Wukong had ended up… [Continue Reading]

Don’t Trust the Milkman – A Call of Cthulhu Saga

This article’s a bit out of left-field, as it’s not about video games. Instead, today I wanted to discuss a tabletop RPG I’ve always wanted to try and recently got my wish. Except for a short one-off in my undergrad years, Call of Cthulhu has always somehow evaded my gaming tables. Like most social events, it would lay dormant and unable to find a group willing to get together to play. But thanks to the Covid-19 lockdown, my gaming group finally decided to give Call of Cthulhu a try via Tabletop Simulator. Since then, we’ve been hooked and played a… [Continue Reading]

The Dark Infested Assassination

“Wowee, it’s dark in here!” Three of the four Tenno turned around slowly, looking at Excalibur. “No, really?” Wisp snorted. “We hadn’t noticed, new guy.” “He’s right though!” Chroma took Excalibur’s side quite quickly. “It IS really dark in here, more so than usual. Far, far darker than us-” Chroma’s sentence was interrupted by the sound of Nova tripping up and bumping into him. “Like I said, darker than usual.” The dragon knight tutted as he helped Nova up off the floor. “Are you alright?” Nova brushed off dirt and what felt like slime off her shoulder, then adjusted her… [Continue Reading]

Confusion with New Mastery Ranks

“Hey! What are you doing here?” Volt glanced away from the console he was trying to hack, so he could see who was shouting at him. “Uh, hacking the console so we can leave this ship before it explodes?” Volt replied calmly. The Tenno in person was a Gauss, with all the armour he could fit on his body. “You’re not supposed to be in this Sortie mission!” “Uh, why not?” With a flick of his wrist, Volt retracted his Parazon and started heading towards extraction, as did the rest of the team. However, the Gauss kept on sprinting forward… [Continue Reading]

The Tenno’s Forgotten Past

In Warframe, there is a very specific name used for our characters. Warframes are our suits, we are Operators. But, as a whole, we are called Tenno. Not only are we particularly strange, but we have vast amounts of powers. We are considered as saviors to some, terrorists and betrayers to others. Most of the time though, we’re rampaging around, murdering thousands, all because of our greed. The Tenno are somewhat hypocritical and cause a lot of destruction. In fact, you could consider the Tenno as bad guys. Or at least nearly as bad as the bad guys. Frankly, it’s… [Continue Reading]

How I Would Have Altered the Call of the Tempestarii Quest

Gonna be honest, the more I think about it, the less pleased I am with Sevagoth’s quest. What started off as an interesting premise led absolutely nowhere. There was not much substance to the quest, and nowhere near enough time to actually, well, do anything. Now, I don’t claim to be a good writer. But I really feel like even an idiot like me could, well, do more. Heads up, there ARE spoilers in this article. There kinda have to be. But the Call of the Tempestarii is literally half an hour of quests and cutscenes. It’s literally a Spy… [Continue Reading]

A Fancy Yellow Invitation

Rakk Stugg grunted as he slammed his fist into the ever-growing pile of smashed alarm clocks. Much to his annoyance though, the beeping was still playing. After smashing his armoured gauntlet into the crunchy heap a couple more times, Rakk realized that, just maybe, the beeping sound was coming from somewhere else in the small, cramped crewship. Pulling himself out of his old, shitty sleeping pod, Rakk inspected the room, making sure everything was in its old, crappy place. The old Grineer pipes, the rusty wall panels, the clunky, anti-degeneration equipment, it all reminded him of the old days. Before… [Continue Reading]
