The Spy Who Loved Me

The Spy has been, and always will be, my favorite class in any video game (or other game, for that matter) that has classes. Paladins of D&D, Snipers of Battlefield come close, but ultimately, they are nothing compared to our resident globe-trotting lady killer. Everything about the Spy appeals to me on every level: his sneaky, underhanded playstyle, his awesome voice lines, and his weapons. Good lord, his weapons. The way the Spy functions is so interesting, so quirky, and so unique, that it brings a whole new level of intrigue to the most intriguing mercenary around. The closest analogue… [Continue Reading]

Put Me In, Coach!

I was surprised the other day, when I was futzing around with my HUD, that the coaching button still exists. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use this to any sort of effect ever. Has anyone else? Share your coaching stories in the comments, won’t you? Now, we’ll get into the real nitty-gritty here. What did this coaching function ever actually do? It’s a fairly straightforward concept, actually. To be a part of this system, you need to sign up using the megaphone icon on the homepage. There, it will prompt you to sign up as a coach, and… [Continue Reading]

Taunt Situations

The G key. What a mysterious creature, the G key. What does it want from us? What does it even do? Be careful, dear readers… Be careful. Taunting was a feature that existed in the very first release of Team Fortress 2, and has since grown into somewhat of a staple of SPUF’s favorite game. The Sniper’s Wave, KABOOOOM!, The Medic’s Oktoberfest. Some of these taunts form the very backbone of characters, too, like the Spy’s many revolver taunts where he takes the time, in the heat of battle, to adjust his tie and brush off his coat. The Medic… [Continue Reading]

Straight Upgrades In Your TF2

So let’s face it: there are weapons that, in TF2 are just better than their stock counterparts for a multitude of reasons. As aabicus mentioned in his article, there are only a handful of weapons that are objectively better than their associated stock weapons. However, we’re here to talk about ones that, while they are not objectively better, are better in almost every conceivable scenario. So let’s get right into it. 1.  Me Petite Chou Fleur. The Ambassador has been in the game for a very long time, and is basically the staple of upper-level/competitive Spy play. Knives are (usually) variable, but most… [Continue Reading]

cp_Junction, What’s Your Function?

If you haven’t heard of cp_Junction, I can’t say I blame you. Buried in the back of the server rotation with tc_Hydro and pl_Nightfall is this peculiar, subterranean Attack/Defend map known as Junction that almost no server ever runs. Featuring cramped, narrow halls, sparse cover, and a very restricted layout, this map is an oddity amongst TF2 maps. Why do people avoid or otherwise not play on this map? Well, that’d be because… it’s a pretty bad map. So let’s investigate one of TF2’s lesser-known maps, shall we? The promo image can tell you quite a bit about Junction, and… [Continue Reading]

Spy Melees and You!

This message will self destruct in 3… 2… 1…  Nah, just kidding. Instead, I’m here to discuss the various shivs you can drive between the shoulder blades of your hapless foes as TF2’s conniving, dashingly handsome rogue, The Spy. Sorry to step on the toes of Chevap666, but I haven’t seen one of these in a while, and figured “hey, there isn’t one for The Spy yet!”   The Butterfly Knife (And it’s Reskins: The Saxxy, The Black Rose, and the Sharp Dresser): The most magnanimous and recognizable of the Spy’s melees is also his default, and is a wonderfully serviceable weapon.… [Continue Reading]

I Wrote an Article About The Chargin’ Targe

Oh wait, no I didn’t, but boy howdy, everyone else sure did! I haven’t been playing this game for that long (coming up on my three year anniversary this June), but I can say that I’ve never really seen more people upset over something in this game being changed. A lot of folks I’ve seen out there have drawn analogues to Valve’s recent changes to the Demo shields, with their Sticky Jumper nerf. And, I’ll admit, when I saw those Sticky Jumper patch notes, I was a little bit like: But I quickly got over it. So I can’t jump… [Continue Reading]

When your teammates need a hero, when they need a man to drag them from the muck and ash, to take that RED defense on head first and attain a righteous victory, who do they turn to? Real Teammates of Genius

Red Shed Brewers presents Real Teammates of Genius. Today, we salute you, Mister Determined Last Point Engineer. The other Engineers on your team lack the foresight to prepare for the worst. But fret not, RED Team, for you have Determined Last Point Engineer, and no one is taking his point, except the Spy that just sapped all of his buildings. Even in the face of your entire team asking you to move that gear up,… [Continue Reading]

What’s In Your TF>Custom Folder?

This will be a general survey to see what y’all keep in your TF>Custom folder in the way of mods, skins, scripts, or whatnot. Screenshots are encouraged! Medic: I feel bad. I don’t have much in my custom folder at all. I have a custom hitsound, but it’s just a simple ding noise. I do have 3Fort’s SPUF hat as a reskin for the Proof of Purchase. I do love that hat and it’s one of the few I wear often, apart from my unusual. I only have it as a reskin for Medic’s Proof of Purchase recently, I’m not… [Continue Reading]
