The Curiosity of the Day of the Dead Theme

A quick heads up, the Halloween colour palette is currently available for 1 credit (yes, credit!) on the Warframe market. Simply search Halloween in the store and buy the palette and it’s yours forever. It consists of some very rich reds, oranges and yellows, as well as some good natural greens. The bottom most yellow is actually the colour I use on all my Warframes, so for that reason alone, you should get it. The palette goes away on November 2nd, so get it now while you can, since it’s basically free. As well as the free Halloween palette, there’s… [Continue Reading]

On Making Your Warframes Look Like Sexy People In Armour

Let’s be honest. A lot of Warframes aren’t exactly pretty to look at. They’re vaguely humanoid but apart from that, it’s a mess of armour and lumps and bits and pieces. It’s incredibly difficult to make a Warframe look traditionally sexy. But it’s not impossible. The best way to make a Warframe into a sexy person is to use a handful of skins and a handful of colours. Unfortunately, the most human-like skins are generally Tennogen. The most famous sexy skin is the Stinger Tennogen skin for Nova, which makes her look like she’s wearing some sort of latex suit… [Continue Reading]

The Naru Syandana and Other Tennogen Items

So after Christmas, I caved and bought myself a Tennogen item. The Naru Syandana is a pair of wings based on the Naberu Halloween-exclusive cosmetic. It cost €5.99, was modeled and textured by members of the community and can be equipped on any Warframe. The wings lower themselves when walking, running and aiming and open up while bullet jumping or whenever you visit a public place like a relay or Cetus. The price seems a little bit high, but the people who made the item need to get paid, you know? Tennogen items are voted on via the Steam Workshop… [Continue Reading]

Not At All Dragon-y in any Way

Chroma is not a dragon. He’s a weird, ugly thing that wears the skin of a ‘dragon’ made out of the same stuff Sentients are made out of. He’s a dragon only in the loosest sense of the word. Chroma is a weird, ugly mess of a Warframe and I don’t understand him. Of course, what I don’t understand, I don’t like. Looks-wise, Chroma is horrible. He’s lumpy and ugly. He doesn’t have wings. He has lumps on his back where wings are supposed to go. He has a fat spade of a tail. He looks wrinkly and horrible. Luckily,… [Continue Reading]

Trading in Warframe

If you want to get anywhere in Warframe, you need to learn how to trade. The only thing required to progress in Warframe that requires the premium currency of Platinum is the slot. Weapon slots and Warframe slots mainly. The other slots, for Archwings, Archwing Weapons, Sentinels, Pets and Riven Mods, they’re not compulsory but needed if you want to get everything. Things like Orokin Reactors and Catalysts, or Exilus Adapters, they can be obtained during events, given as rewards during sorties or are featured in Alert missions. It’s just Weapon slots (at 12 platinum for 2 slots) and Warframe… [Continue Reading]

Team Fortress 2’s Cosmetics System

At this point, Team Fortress 2 is so deeply associated with hats and cosmetics people probably won’t believe that it actually launched without them. Cosmetics were first introduced in 2009 during the Sniper VS Spy Update, and the game’s cosmetics customization system has only been getting more and more complicated as time goes on. Foxzet wrote an article on TF2’s cosmetics two years ago, but I think this is worth looking at again. But before I talk more about TF2’s cosmetics customization system, I think I’ll address something first. I did talked about it briefly in my Crosslinker’s Coil article,… [Continue Reading]

On Deluxe Skins and Tennogen

In Warframe, there are four types of cosmetics – syandanas, flowing capes that sit on one’s back; armour sets which go on your Warframe’s legs, arms and chest; alternate helmets for each Warframe and Warframe skins, which change the appearance and texture of your Warframe. All these cosmetics are available in three forms – available for purchase with Platinum, the in-game currency; only available in specific bundles or Prime Access; or available for purchase via Steam through a service called Tennogen. Recently, a ton of new skins were released, often for under-appreciated characters. Nehza (the awkward result of what would… [Continue Reading]

First impressions of the Smissmass 2017 Cosmetics

The Smissmass 2017 update dropped recently, and if any of you actually believed that there aren’t any cosmetics with this updates you must be from 2007. There are also some new taunts released with the update, but that isn’t my business to care. I am only here to look at the new hats. And as per usual, I’ll just wait a few days for the prices to drop, then get the ones I like on the SCM. It’s a lot more convenient than using the trading system. Sledder’s Sidekick AHHH IT’S A PUPPY LOOK AT IT IT’S SO FLUFFY AND… [Continue Reading]

On Volt’s Sexy Not Sexy New Skin

So Volt finally got to join the ranks of his fellow been-there-from-the-start Warframes in the I-have-an-extra-fancy-skin department. Kinda. Unlike Mag, Ember, Nekros, Trinity, Rhino and all that, Volt didn’t get a nice Deluxe skin. No, Volt became the third member of the Proto Skin family. Except his new skin still doesn’t fit there. The two proto skins for Excalibur and Nyx are basically assets from Digital Extremes’ game Dark Sector, redone and amplified to fit the Warframe theme. Proto Excalibur has a skin based on the protagonist Hayden Tenno, while Nyx appears as Nemesis, which I assume is one of… [Continue Reading]

Dog of the Machine

Despite me loving cosmetics so very, very much, I’ve never been much of a fan about cosmetic sets. Part of the joy of cosmetics for me is coming out with my own sets that I like and uniquely represents me. However, there is one particular set that I personally love, and it just so happens to be a Halloween set. Tremble, humans, as the Canis Ex Machina roams among you all. Added during Scream Fortress 2014, the Canis Ex Machina is a reference to the series of infamous Soviet experiments, Эксперименты по оживлению организма (Experiments in the Revival of Organisms). The… [Continue Reading]
