Poor Emboar – Tepig Community Day

I’m going to be honest. Somehow, I completely forgot about Tepig Community Day. I was under the impression it’d be next week. But no, I was wrong, and July 3rd was Tepig Day. There’s a few… pros and cons around here. Everything about this event feels nerfed. Okay, I get it, there are few Pokemon as interesting as Gible. That day was great. Unfortunately, Tepig just doesn’t have much weight about it. So, even before we start, expectations are lower. But even the spawns and incense felt nerfed. Normally, when a Community Day starts, you get a huge explosion of… [Continue Reading]

The Bidoof Event was Fun

For the end of June, we had a very silly event in Pokemon GO. Now, most events aren’t particularly serious, but most of the time things are pretty normal. All you get are different spawns, maybe some research and eggs. When the Bidoof Breakout event was announced, everyone just assumed it’d be a normal event, with increased Bidoof spawns. Well, we were… kinda right. Niantic seemed to go all out for this event. Rather than just plonking down some spawns, we actually got a  rather odd, general increase. The event started off with just a handful of Bidoof scattered around… [Continue Reading]

The 5 next best Team Rocket counters in Pokemon GO

A while ago, aabicus went over the the 5 best Team Rocket counters in Pokemon GO. His list was very strong for the grunts back then. However, we’ve received more Pokemon over time, and some Grunts have changed. Aabicus’s list is still a great setup that can beat any team you come across. But there are other Pokemon worth considering. Specifically, the ones in this list! Machamp Machamp is great. Sure, you can use Lucario or that other guy. But Machamp is simply too easy to get, power up and give a second move to. Sure, you can give Riolu… [Continue Reading]

Odd Pokemon I’d Like to See Community Days for in Pokemon GO

Community Days are always a lot of fun. After all, how can you not like 1/25 shiny chances and special moves? It’s true, not all Community Days are equal. But no matter the Pokemon, it’s still fun to catch some shinies. There used to be a rather strict pattern when it came to Community Days. However, in 2020, the pattern was changed, and it became open season. Even Pokemon who have shinies, like Machop, Gastly and even Gible, have had a chance. And this means ANY Pokemon could theoretically have a Community Day. Really, the only rule now is that… [Continue Reading]

5 Legendaries You Should Consider Powering Up in Pokemon GO

Legendary Pokemon are cool. There’s no denying it. And in Pokemon GO, you can catch lots of Legendary Pokemon. However, Legendary Pokemon are hard to get candy for. While the stardust costs are the same, candy isn’t. You can’t reliably walk a Legendary Pokemon like a normal buddy. And since they rotate in and out of raids, you either have to go ham or not get candy. Assuming the bastards even catch. So with candy in short supply, what Pokemon are worth powering up? It’s easy to say “all of them to level 40”, but frankly, getting a handful to… [Continue Reading]

What’s The Point of Double Candy if there’s Nothing to Catch?

On the 12th and 13th of June, we had a small mini-event in Pokemon GO. The event was very simple: get double candy for catching Pokemon. There were some other bonuses as well, like a higher chance to get XL candy. But that only applied to level 40+ players. Sounds great in theory. However, there’s a small problem here. There was nothing to really catch. We had overlapping events! This candy event started in the middle of A Very Slow Discovery. As you can probably guess, the Pokemon in this event are mostly Slowpoke. Sure, we get the release of… [Continue Reading]

Legendary Pokemon You’ll Probably Only Need One of in Pokemon GO

Generally, when you catch a Legendary Pokemon, it’s pretty cool. In the main series games in particular, it’s part of the story. You tend to only get one of them in a single play-through, and they’re generally of great importance. If you wanted a shiny Pokemon, you’d have to reset the game countless times for a tiny, tiny chance. And that only applied to earlier games – newer ones are relegated to events. However, in Pokemon GO, it’s possible to get many, many of the same type of Legendary. Raids regularly cycle through Pokemon, and even with just free passes,… [Continue Reading]

Season of Discovery reminds me of Pre-Seasons Pokemon GO

On June 1st, the Season of Legends ended and the Season of Discovery began. To be honest, the Season of Legends wasn’t that legendary. And the Season of Discovery probably won’t have many discoveries. But something about this new season is odd. Despite being new, it feels old. Why is that? Can’t be the events. The events this June are pretty similar to previous months: constant and hard to keep track of. We’re having a ‘slow’ event soon which will have Slowpoke and similar Pokemon take up 99% of the spawns, and the new Pokemon we want will probably be… [Continue Reading]

5 Pokemon I Haven’t Seen in Months

There are a lot of Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Spanning six generations, it will eventually be the most complete Pokemon game around. Assuming they ever release Kecleon. However, a LOT of Pokemon will go missing over time. Because of events and changing spawns, some Pokemon just don’t get a chance in the spotlight. In fact, some Pokemon just end up disappearing completely, until there’s an event that suits them. Here’s a list of a few Pokemon I genuinely haven’t seen in months. Fossil Pokemon The idea of fossil Pokemon is a weird concept. You have an extinct Pokemon that you… [Continue Reading]

5 Cheap Pokemon You Should Consider Powering Up

Stardust and candy can be hard to come by. While Pokemon like Mewtwo and Dialga are powerful monsters that do tons of damage, they’re not exactly accessible. They seem even less accessible when you realize you need a team of 6 for raids, plus extras, plus different moves for PvP. Dragonite Okay, technically Dragonite isn’t a cheap Pokemon to power up. But when it comes to dragon types, it’s by far the most common. Dratini is the most likely to spawn in events as well. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, there’s a chance you’ll find them in the… [Continue Reading]
