The Best Team Rocket Grunt

Team Rocket Grunts come in a bunch of different forms. Generally, they are male or female and have Pokemon based on their type. You can generally guess what Pokemon they’ll have based on the line or pun they spout when you challenge them. When you defeat a grunt, they’ll scurry off and leave one of their Pokemon behind. Grunts seem to change on a regular basis. Well, I say that, the grunts themselves stay the same. No matter what Pokemon they have, they’ll spew the same old puns and one-liners. And they’ll always abandon one of their Pokemon at the… [Continue Reading]

On Catching Dragon Types

Dragon types are super rare in Pokemon GO. Most types of Pokemon have one or two specimens that spawn on a regular basis. In the current Season of Legends, the only noticeably missing type, aside from Dragon, is Dark. Ice types can be rather rare, but Pokemon like Spheal and Swinub do appear occasionally. But aside from that, you can find most of each type. Dragons on the other hand are pretty much always never around. You’ll be lucky to see one a week, unless there’s an event going on. There’s no common dragon type. Every other type has a… [Continue Reading]

The Slowly Increasing Need for More Backpack Space

Right now, I have enough space to hold 1450 Pokemon on my level 42 Pokemon GO account. Also right now, I am using 1430 of those 1450 slots. There’s probably an event coming up, so I’ll need to clear some space. I need to start transferring Pokemon, so I can catch more of them. After all, I can’t keep every Pokemon, right? Well, I’ll try… I don’t like deleting things. I’m a weirdly sentimental person. Even when I am running out of space, I don’t like deleting things or throwing things away. The thought is always “what if this turns… [Continue Reading]

Fletchling Community Day

What’s that? A community day? Already? These seem to come more and more quickly, I swear. March’s 2021 Community Day is actually kinda special. Why? Because it’s the first March Community Day since 2019, as 2020’s March Community Day was skipped. And, to celebrate, we’re getting Fletchling, the tiny, fiery sparrow thing! A Pokemon that evolves into a fan favourite, Talonflame. New shiny! Yes, we’re actually getting a brand new shiny. And one that ISN’T a Kanto Pokemon! Fletchling can now be shiny, and if you evolved it during the Community Day event, Talonflame would learn the fast move Incinerate.… [Continue Reading]

Sending and Receiving Gifts is Such A Pain

I’m going to be blunt here. I’ve always been bad at receiving gifts. While I can make and send pretty nice presents, my ability to receive a gift is kinda crap. And, for some reason, this trait has followed me into Pokemon GO. A place where gifts are a pretty large part of the game. But, for some reason, even for normal people, receiving gifts in Pokemon GO is a massive pain. And so is sending gifts. So. Much. Tapping. Sending and receiving gifts takes ages. Just like everything else in Pokemon GO, you need to tap through various animations.… [Continue Reading]

I Really, Really Want a Break From Kanto Pokemon

I was kinda hoping that, with the Kanto Celebration ending, we’d get a bit of a break from Kanto Pokemon. There’s 151 of them, making it one of the bigger regions with the most Pokemon. Out of the Pokedexes in Pokemon GO, only Unova beats out Kanto, with 156 Pokemon. That being said, there’s at least 300 Pokemon in other regions, and none of them get a look in. It’s… getting silly. Despite this event ending, we’re still getting Kanto Pokemon. Having a look at the upcoming March events, there’s STILL a heavy lean on Kanto Pokemon. Sure, we are… [Continue Reading]

The Legendary Birds Returned Yet Again

To finish off the Kanto Celebration, we got a very nice little raid event. On the last day of February, the Legendary Birds returned for 3 hours in 5 star raids. It’s a pretty nice send off for what felt like an endless Kanto event. Back with special moves! Well, I say special moves, I mean the special moves they’ve had for ages. Hurricane for Articuno, Thunder Shock for Zapdos and Sky Attack for Moltres. Zapdos and Moltres’s moves are generally pretty good, but Hurricane is… just alright for Articuno. In fact, these are the special moves these Pokemon received… [Continue Reading]

My Thoughts on Community Days with PvP-Orientated Moves

Over the last year or so, pretty much every Community Day has been the same. It’s a not very new shiny, that gets a move designed for PvP. The last Pokemon that got a move useful for PvP was Rhydon with Rock Wrecker, back in February 2020. Before then, we had a basic pattern of “cool Pokemon” then “Starter Pokemon”. But 2020 changed all that by bringing back repeat candidates and having… unusual moves. Of course, this hasn’t made everyone happy. And, of course, I’m going to give my opinions on the matter. To be fair, there’s only so much… [Continue Reading]

Beating Team Rocket Leaders with Great League Pokemon

Whenever the Team Rocket Leaders get new Pokemon, you always get a cool little wave of excitement in nerdier places. The first little wave is discussing what Pokemon the Leaders now have, and whether they can be shiny. After that, discussion moves on to the Leaders’ teams and how to counter them. But once that dust settles, another question is asked. Can these teams be beaten with cheap alternatives and lower CP Pokemon? The answer is normally yes. And it’s doable even with mediocre Pokemon. Turns out, you don’t need much preparation at all. With the current iteration of bosses,… [Continue Reading]

Kinda Wondering What the Point of the Kanto Tour was…

So, now that the Kanto Tour is actually over and we’ve moved into the Kanto Celebration… I’m kinda wondering what the point of the Kanto Tour was. We had 12 hours of catching Kanto Pokemon, followed by a week of more Kanto. And that’s on top of all the Kanto-themed events we’ve had over the last few months. Not to mention the Kanto-themed Community Days. It was basically GO Fest but Kanto only. The Kanto Tour was interesting. Just like GO Fest, it was split into various hours, ‘visiting’ various towns and cities from Pokemon Red and Green. Pokemon spawned… [Continue Reading]
