Level 50 is here in Pokemon Go but it is the GRINDIEST of Grinds!

On the last day of November, I opened up Pokemon GO and was SLAMMED with notifications. Tons of medals popped up out of nowhere! Most of them were either gold or platinum, for catching Pokemon and for doing various raids. I waited for a good couple of minutes for the medals to go away, then immediately spotted something else. The experience bar had popped up underneath my level 40 avatar. Levels 41-50 had arrived. And with them came a huge amount of grind. For level 41 alone, you need 6,000,000 experience. Pretty insane considering how you need 5,000,000 experience for… [Continue Reading]

Yet More Complaining About Mega Pokemon

I wasn’t going to complain any more about Mega Pokemon in Pokemon GO. It felt rather fruitless, especially since it’s so easily ignored. But, on a whim, I decided to Mega-Evolve a Gengar for a Lugia raid. My Gengar, with a CP of 3336, lasted all of 10 seconds. Lugia’s Dragon Tail kicked the shit out of it, then nuked Gengar with a Hydro Pump. I might as well have just used a Darkrai or a Giratina, both of which lasted far longer than my Mega Gengar did. This is despite me trying to dodge. Because dodging only seems to… [Continue Reading]

The Nidoran Limited Research Event

Normally I like these limited research events. Catch a bunch of Pokemon, do some tasks, maybe get a shiny. Normally you end up spending a ton of Pokeballs and resources but the shiny chances are often boosted. Not as much as community days, but still overall pretty good. That being said, we’ve had one per month for the last few months, and, well, I’m getting bored of them. Nidoran Limited Research is no different. Really, the only difference between the Nidoran Limited Research and those for Drifloon and Meowth is that there’s two Pokemon instead of one. Although, in all… [Continue Reading]

Go Away, Team Rocket Grunt

I’m normally always happy to fight a Team Rocket Grunt. They look so spiffy in their little matching black and red outfits, and their silly one-liners. None of them are particularly hard to beat either. Since they scale with your trainer level, they’re never going to be THAT hard unless you use Pokemon they are super effective against. In fact, when I started a secondary account, I specifically wanted to try Team Rocket fights. And most of them were pretty doable! The only boss I ever failed to beat was Sierra with the double Lapras lineup. This was because I… [Continue Reading]

Electabuzz and Magmar Community Days

Community Day in November came with a twist this year! Instead of the normal one community day, we got two! November’s Community Days featured Magmar and Electabuzz, as well as shiny babies and shiny evolutions. It was both a pleasant change and, well, a bit of a drag. But at least we got two cool shinies out of it! Straight to the point, Magmar Community Day was better than Electabuzz Community Day These community days ran one week after the other. Electabuzz Community Day was on Sunday 15th and Magmar Community Day was on Saturday 21st. Which meant most people… [Continue Reading]

Pokemon GO’s Beyond GO Update and Speculations Overall

Both my two main games right now have massive updates coming up. Warframe has Deimos Arcana, which may already out by the time you’re reading this. Pokemon GO on the other hand is going to have a MASSIVE update with huge changes. Not only will levels increase to level 50, but we’re going to be seeing changes to the spawning and more. The more technical places like the Silph Road are all over this stuff, and there’s a huge amount to talk about. And by huge, I mean huge. We’re basically talking about a fundamental change to Pokemon GO. Level… [Continue Reading]

I Haven’t Seen An Aron In Ages – Constant Pokemon Go Events

A while back, I mentioned that I started a second Pokemon Go account, so I could re-experience (and eventually write about) the new player experience. The ‘little account’, as it is often called, doesn’t get out much. In fact, it mostly just sits at home. Adventure sync barely works on it, and I’m often too lazy to set up a mobile hotspot. So this little account mostly just sees spawns at home. That being said, I’ve made some good progress on the little account. It successfully completed the Team Rocket research for Mewtwo and has a Vullaby, a Pokemon I’ve… [Continue Reading]

A Look Back At Pokemon GO’s Halloween Event

Pokemon GO always has pretty good Halloween events, and this year was pretty good as well. There were lots of nice bonuses, lots of Pokemon to catch and plenty of shinies to not be caught. We also had plenty of smaller events alongside the Halloween spawns, and there was plenty of things to do. Of course, though, there were some downsides as well. Amazing event bonuses I mean, who doesn’t like double candy? Even if it’s for things like Gastly and Misdreavus. Ghost types, particularly Gengar and Chandelure, are always helpful Pokemon to have. We also got double transfer candy… [Continue Reading]

A Quick Look At Sending Pokemon from Pokemon GO to Pokemon HOME

Finally, Pokemon GO has some sort of connection to other Pokemon games. Sure, it’s a rather tentative, one-way path, but it’s there. Now, you can transfer Pokemon from Pokemon GO to Pokemon HOME. However, the process is one-way, and you can’t transfer anything to Pokemon GO. Not that you really need to, considering how many Legendaries you can get in Pokemon GO. All it requires is some patience and a Nintendo account. The process is kinda simple. After you have connected a Nintendo account with your Pokemon GO account (or, in my case, made a Nintendo account), you can just… [Continue Reading]

Alolan Marowak Raid Day

We haven’t had a raid day in ages. This year, most raid events have been week-long events so you don’t need to go outside too much, for obvious reasons. Aside from GO Fest, the black and white dragons, Giratina and Darkrai, most of the raids we’ve had weren’t amazing. We had the legendary horses earlier this year, the legendary genies and the legendary birds a few weeks ago. All stuff that, really, you don’t need, because there are plenty of good Pokemon elsewhere. Alolan Marowak is another Pokemon that no one really needs. It’s a rather glassy Pokemon that doesn’t… [Continue Reading]
