A Bunch of New Pokemon Have Arrived in Pokemon Go- Oh Look. Regionals.

I’m gonna be honest, I’m a little bit tired of regional Pokemon in Pokemon Go. They’re just so… unobtainable. There’s no reasonable way for the average person to ever actually do as the Pokemon games suggest and “CATCH ‘EM ALL!” because there’s no way most people to travel across the world in order to catch Pokemon that are all over the damn place. In the case of the recent batch of Unova Pokemon that have been released, there’s not too many, but anything over one regional is too many. I mean, I can kinda understand regional Pokemon if it’s just… [Continue Reading]

The Adventures of Orokin Chonk – An Ultra Buddy

When the upgraded buddy system came out in Pokemon Go, I found it absolutely adorable. I also had a big choice to make: which Pokemon should I use as my buddy? After all, they’ll be free to wander around, I’ll be feeding them berries and they’ll be earning candy and getting various boosts, like helping catch Pokemon and ultimately get a boost in CP. I had so many options. I could walk a Gible or a Litwick or one of the Generation 5 starters, which I need a lot of candy for. I could walk an evolved Pokemon that I… [Continue Reading]

On The Increased Chances To Catch Shinies in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go was my third real look into Pokemon, outside of the old trading card game when I was very young and the anime with Ash and his omnipotent Pikachu, which I have watched both in English and in really badly dubbed Greek in which all the characters shared two voices. Technically, it’s the first proper Pokemon game I ever played, mainly because I just had all the wrong consoles, namely being a Playstation and PC person. This though has conditioned me to see super rare aspects in normal Pokemon games, like Shinies, Mythicals and Legendaries, in a completely different… [Continue Reading]

Five Pokemon Who Need Party Hats

The Hatch-a-thon has returned in Pokemon Go, meaning that we get extra rewards for hatching Pokemon from eggs and there’s a massive 50k stardust reward for walking 50km in a week. This also means that Pikachu in a Party Hat is popping up in the wild, with Pichu in eggs and Raichu wandering around with a party hat feeling unloved as always. But 2020’s Hatch-a-thon also brings with it some new Pokemon! Raticate and Wobbuffet can be found in raids with party hats and Wurmple and its family can be hatched from eggs with party hats, all of which can… [Continue Reading]

The Take-Over Continues – The Team Rocket Quest Again

Back in November, we were introduced to the quest Looming in the Shadows, which introduced Team GO Rocket Leaders and of course the Boss Giovanni into Pokemon Go, with a series of tasks that led you to obtaining the first shadow legendary, Articuno. Then, in December, we got the special research A Challenging Development, which was exactly the same set of tasks except for the fact that you got a shadow Zapdos instead of a shadow Articuno. Now, in 2020, we have a new yet identical series of tasks called The Take-Over Continues. Which will give us a shadow Moltres.… [Continue Reading]

Too Many Buddies, Not Enough Time

As it stands I adore the new buddy system in Pokemon Go. It’s actually a very refreshing change of pace to the old buddy system, where your Pokemon of choice would just sit on your profile, occasionally yawning with boredom and staring off into the blue, red or yellow void. The new buddy system lets your Pokemon stretch its legs or wings or feet or fins or whatever appendages it uses to move and it will run around you, bring you gifts and help you catch Pokemon. Even the cost of berries isn’t that much. Most people are tripping over… [Continue Reading]

The 2010s in Gaming – A Look Back

Adios, old decade! Tomorrow is the first day of the new ’20s, a decade sure to be just as roaring as the one that used to be known as the ’20s’. I’ve often wondered just how long it takes for the old century to fall out of conversation and get replaced by the new one in abbreviated parlance. Guess we might be finding out somewhere around the 2050s, is my personal guess. But anyway! The ’10s were certainly a hell of a decade, especially for gaming. We were treated to some huge advancements in graphics, hardware, and processing capabilities. The… [Continue Reading]

The Problem with Eggs and Incubators in Pokemon Go

Hatching eggs seems to be a recurring thing in Pokemon, with almost all Pokemon in existence having been hatched from what are honestly pretty large eggs. This is the same for pretty much everything except from Legendaries, which just happen to spring into reality or are made in labs. Eggs are also a thing in Pokemon Go, despite the fact that there is no breeding or anything. In fact, abandoned eggs are just given as rewards for spinning Pokestops, which, if my theory about Pokemon Go critters being brain-dead clones from the real Pokemon dimension has anything to say about… [Continue Reading]

Rambling at Pokemon That Are Good But Not The Best

I’ve rambled before about how we often expect too much when it comes to the Pokemon we catch in Pokemon Go, that it doesn’t matter if they’re not perfect, if they’re lacking in a stat or if they’re not shiny. But I’ve never really looked at Pokemon in a species way. I mean, we’ve got all these different species of Pokemon all categorized into tier lists based on how good they are, and with more and more Pokemon being released, so may more are ignored or kicked off their thrones to make space for better Pokemon. For example, Groudon was… [Continue Reading]

December Community Weekend

Pokemon Go decided to end community days for 2019 with a bang by repeating somewhat what they did in 2018, by having a community day weekend, bringing back all of the year’s community day Pokemon for one final send off before leaping into 2020, while also bringing back 2018’s Pokemon. So we get two things: a collection of Pokemon from 2019 and a collection of Pokemon from 2018. One of these was done really well. The other, not so much. When it comes to the implementation of the 2019 community day stuff, I couldn’t be happier. We get two days’… [Continue Reading]
