A Christmas Article for 2021

Merry Smissmas! Hiya, everyone! Happy holidays from us at the Daily SPUF! It’s December 25th, 2021 and the plan is to enjoy ourselves. Time for a bit of fun, I’d say! There are gifts to be opened, rich food to be eaten and many a stomach pain from eating way, way too much. Or, at least, that’s how it is for me. Of course, everyone is different. While I’ll be busy cooking things, other people will be busy drinking or eating or opening gifts. There’s also people who simply don’t celebrate a holiday at this time of year, and I… [Continue Reading]

Seven Stories for Smissmas

Ah, alliteration, don’t you love it? Well I do. There’s something nice about how words all starting with the same letter roll off the tongue. Like poetry but nicer and simpler. And potentially less posh and snobby. What’s better than alliteration though? Stories. Well, not always, it depends on the story. A bad fan fiction about two characters who would normally hate each other somehow ending up screwing is always going to be horrible. And speaking of horrible, the holiday season just isn’t the right time for scary stories. No, I did that for Halloween. Actually, I did that twice.… [Continue Reading]

The 25th, 2016

It’s that time of year again. A large number of people are hopefully stuffing their faces with food, or opening presents. There may be snow falling on the Daily SPUF, but across the planet, even in summer-time Australia, there’s people celebrating Christmas. Most people like Christmas, if only because it’s a day off work and you can eat whatever you want and no one will judge you. Plus, you get presents, unless you’re a freakish fool like me who doesn’t like receiving gifts. No, seriously, don’t. Christmas is also a time for charity. All over the place, selfless people are… [Continue Reading]

Spy’s Alcove

Spy tutted as he flicked through Mannly Hats Quarterly. It was a Smissmas special edition issue, but it was the same old common nonsense. Ugly, crumpled top hats, ugly, stupid bandannas, ugly, horrific hats made out of scrap metal, ugly, pointless banana hats… Worse, half of this edition consisted of ugly Smissmas decorations. All tasteless and poor and pathetic. Throwing the magazine down, Spy decided to get himself a drink. He had half a bottle of fine red wine, stashed away in a hidden compartment of the chair he was sitting in. There were little hidden compartments everywhere, all containing… [Continue Reading]

Smissmas 2016 is here

Smissmas 2016 is here and its a tiny, weeny update! Seriously, very tiny. Like, it’s the sort of update you’d get in March 2013 to make everyone shut up for a bit until the big Summer update. Not even that, actually. Firstly, there’s the standard Festive Crate. It’s got a bunch of Smissmas items, 17 in total, that will look amazing in July. The special crates need a special key to open, available for the normal price in the Mann Co. Store. Nope, you just buy the crates from the store. No keys, no drops, nada. Opening the crate will… [Continue Reading]

A Very Festive SPUF Event 2

Well, the Very Festive SPUF event, the sequel at least, has been and gone. It involved a bunch of maps, a bunch of changes, me not playing MvM like I wanted and a bunch of other bits and pieces. A random bunch of maps were played, including none of the maps we originally picked out. Apart from Coldfront and Viaduct. I originally wanted to do a Highlander match like the last Festive SPUF event, but I knew we simply didn’t have the numbers. I considered doing MvM but people didn’t like that idea. So we all kinda ended up just… [Continue Reading]

The Tough Break Smissmas Update

Editor’s note: Yes, I know we published an article on this yesterday, but Night’s article is better than mine. And more factually correct. This Smissmas is looking damn good. I can’t remember the last time I was really excited about an update. Gun Mettle was fun, I liked the contracts. koth_probed was fun on Invasion. Other than those two I haven’t paid attention to any major TF2 updates since mid-2014. The Tough Break Update, however, has my attention. This update brings the Tough Break Campaign Pass, available for US$5.99. The campaign will be spread over three months, just like Gun… [Continue Reading]

Why Smissmas 2014 was disappointing(to me)

I think End of the Line unified the Team Fortress 2 community somewhat: It is almost universally accepted as one of the worst updates in TF2 history. But to me, personally, 2014 brought another, much more disappointing update. And no, it’s not Scream Fortress: It’s actually Smissmas. Why? Well, let’s put it this way: I had exactly zero expectations for End of the Line. Following the statements form McVee saying we’d be lucky if we got 3 weapons, and that they were testing one(which was released during Love & War), and remembering how Robotic Boogaloo went, I thought End of… [Continue Reading]

Holy Grappling Hook, Fatman!

So, Smissmas came and went, and in my honest opinion, I thought it was a bit of a disappointment, to put it politely. The new weapons were meh, the Festive weapons(aside from Bonk and Shotgun) sucked and we only got 7 of them, most of the cosmetics weren’t really that interesting, and they nerfed the Tide Turner. Say what you want about End of the Line, but at least it didn’t ruin a well-established weapon. Oh, and we also got Mannpower, perhaps the most casual gamemode in existence despite nocrits. The powerups are so overpowered it’s ridiculous, not to mention… [Continue Reading]
