The Daily SPUF is back!

Hi everyone and welcome back to the Daily SPUF! After a bumpy week or so, the Daily SPUF is working again! Mostly. I still haven’t worked out how to get featured images working again, but they’re not really needed. Pretty much every picture was saved apart from those uploaded in the last week before blog.spuf.info died, and I’ve managed to save a few of those too. But let’s not worry about a few pictures, let’s bask in the glory of this new theme, and the new shiny stuff and the actual logo and things like that! As you can probably… [Continue Reading]

More Daily SPUF changes!

Hi everyone! Just a little quick article going over a few changes I’ve made to the Daily SPUF via this shitty chrome book. But first off, holy fuck using this chrome book is fucking tedious. Would be amazing for someone who spends all day on Facebook, but for someone who actually uses more than Chrome, it sucks. Anyway! Changes time! The first thing you’ll probably notice is that the main menu has changed again. I realised that there’s no link to view all articles in chronological order (newest to oldest) so I decided to add the Articles button. This will… [Continue Reading]

Medic Week and other Announcements

Oh hey, Medic is saying stuff again! This is just a little blog post to announce a few things, related to the site and logging in and a little mini-event and things like that. It’s boiling hot right now and so much stuff has broken or fallen apart or needed fixing that I’m losing my mind a bit, so this will seem a little blog-post-y. More itsurblog and Hello! than informative Daily SPUF stuff. Oh well. Anyway. You may have noticed that the Unofficial SPUF Network login button has been missing. I don’t know why it’s broken, and tsc has… [Continue Reading]

So what happened to the other SPUF mercs?

It’s weird how we don’t actually have that many SPUFers named after their mains over in the TF2 forums. Unlike SCUD, you can’t change your name on SPUF at all, and using a bad name will just get you banned. Which begs the question, where are all these other SPUFers? For now, I won’t be including people like The Pyro! or The Heavy. who cheat the system by using punctuation. There’s a few of these, but they all have small post counts anyway. The sad news is that they’re not really anywhere. Every The ____ account apart from The Medic,… [Continue Reading]

Remembering Past Successes – Medic’s Moments of Awesomeness

For all the times I’ve gone on about how crap I am at Team Fortress 2, I’ve actually had quite a few epic moments, more than you’d expect for a random Medic with a sugar addiction and a writing problem. Many of which have been as Medic. So let’s go all countdown-y and story-telling-y and listen to me brag about myself. Because I feel I should be able to brag about myself, once in a blue moon. 6. Finishing off Horseless Headless Horsemann Jr A long time ago, back when Arena Mode was dying down, I started playing Versus Saxton… [Continue Reading]

On Upvotes and Downvotes

At 1am the other day, I got into an argument with someone online, in a video game forum. Someone had made a post saying they had cancer. Whether that was true or not, no one knows, but someone in that thread was advocating not seeing a doctor and treating cancer with orange juice and turmeric. Of course, this set off my angry button as someone who goes around calling himself Medic. I replied to this insane person, saying that, whether the person really had cancer or otherwise, their suggestion of unproven food fads was fucking retarded, they should have been… [Continue Reading]

A Week of Love and Hate 2 – Why I love it when others write for the Daily SPUF

Well, a Week of Love and Hate 2 is concluding, and the winner will be announced in a bit. But before we do all that, I’d like to write a little thing on the love side of this little event. When aabicus started writing for the Daily SPUF, I didn’t have much to do with it. I didn’t really write that much, it was just an occasional thing (even though both my first articles were published one after the other). Back then, back in late 2013, SPUF was a much busier forum. SCUD was a new thing and we were… [Continue Reading]

Little tiny changes!

Something magical has happened. As I was eating my awesome home-made vegetable soup the other day, I noticed something unusual. I suddenly had more power. I could change things I could not change before. Lots of magical, wonderful things. So I got to work and made a few… changes around here. First off, our wonderful sticky bomb favicon is back. Fuck yeah! Aaby missed the poor thing, and it’s technically our logo. Hence why it’s all over our social media pages. Then I went and made sure we had a proper mobile site. That’s currently not working very well, so… [Continue Reading]

Announcing the SPUF of Legend!

Wow! We’ve reached the quadruple digits! Back when we started things in 2013, adapting SPUF threads into articles and relying mostly on Gen. DeGroot’s loadout thread for pictures, I had no idea we’d ever reach this far. And we didn’t just reach it, we kept new articles coming every day! Medic’s already got an article talking about how awesome this is, so my focus here is to showcase some cool new additions to our content-creating repertoire. As mentioned, we’ve created a Youtube channel, The SPUF of Legend, and my goal is to create new videos for said channel on a regular basis. I’m aiming… [Continue Reading]

Celebrating 1000 articles with the Daily SPUF!

Wow. Just wow. 1000 articles. The big one zero zero zero. One. Thousand. Articles. All over 250 words. An article, sometimes two, every day since the 18th of August, 2013. It’s now 2016. Our very first article was complaining about the Half Zatoichi, which is a fair point. But while the weapons of Team Fortress 2, the classes of Team Fortress 2, even core mechanics, have changed since then, we’re still publishing an article every single day. Okay we’ve probably missed a day, but only because of extreme circumstances. No, really, we’ve only missed one day. September 19th, 2013. And… [Continue Reading]
