SPUF of the Dead: Chapter One

SPUF OF THE DEAD Chapter 1: Is There Anybody Out There?           As the old, dust-covered phone jangled off, two men turned around in surprise from their desks and gazed at the spectacle; the two detectives had not received a single call in a while. “Shall I?” One of the detectives asked, receiving affirmation in return. His name was Donald Stamda, or more commonly referred to as “Don” or simply “Stamda”. He bounced up and walked towards the phone in a relaxed manner, yawning in the poorly-lit room. Stamda was a tall and handsome, smooth-talking man with a fitting pair… [Continue Reading]

The Best Bad Maps

Now, if you have seen me talk about maps at all on the forums, you may notice that I really don’t pay attention to anything but the looks. TF2’s artstyle inspires sceneryboners for me on a daily basis, so much so that years ago I tried twice hold a poll on which skybox was the best. I mean, look at this concept for the Alpine skybox and map design. But really, we all know that Tf2’s artstyle is down the drain, right? Or at least that’s the gist I get from a lot of people complaining about it. In any… [Continue Reading]

A Story – Spy’s Dream

Instead of the normal stuff, let’s take five minutes to pause and think about how TF2 would be like without respawn machines. Related posts: Sniper’s Parental Predicament Scout – the Village Bicycle

Heavy melees and you!

Do you like boxing? Even if you don’t, you might’ve heard of Muhammad Ali. A damn good fighter who is responsible for the phrase “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”. To fight like that is to be efficient – strike only when the enemy opens up and meanwhile dodge his attacks. Draw a parallel to TF2 and you will see how melee attacks should really be used – with a certain goal in mind, focused on avoiding the opponent’s swings and determined to win. Ali also kicked quite a lot of people, repeatedly, in their heads to prevent… [Continue Reading]

Let’s fix two weapons at once!

Last night, I had a genius idea. I worked out how we could fix not one, but two weapons at once, and you wouldn’t even need to do much work. Yes, folks, I believe I may have the answer to our Quick Fix and Vaccinator worries! Maybe. Possibly. Okay, probably not, but oh well. Vaccinator 101

Ah, Geoff. It’s about time someone dusted you off. Since the Quick Fix’s fix in the Move That Gear Update, the Vaccinator has been widely regarded as the worst of all Mediguns- it does not have the powerful stopping power of stock and the Quick-Fix, nor the incredible offensive power the Kritzkrieg can dish out. Gathering dust in backpacks everywhere, the Vaccinator is largely unappreciated and almost never used. Use it, and get yelled at. And I’ll have to admit, the Vaccinator is not at all made to be an all-round solid medigun. While every medigun has its place, it’s… [Continue Reading]

Demoman could be the new Jack of All Trades

I can hear the Soldiers screaming at me already. They’re charging towards me in their fancy BLU uniforms… Oh wait, I just Kritzed a Demoman instead of Ubering a Heavy. All that’s left are gibs. Yes, after much consideration, I have realised that the Demoman is just as, if not more versatile than the Soldier. Let’s have a look at why. Related posts: TF2 vs. TFC: Who would win? Unusuals – a Thought, Part 2

Like a lot of my work, I don’t often feel that I’ll bother writing a part 2, since my best work is normally a one-off thing that can’t be repeated. But on Tuesday, the 4th of February, I purchased my first non-Medic unusual, and the fourth unusual I’ve ever bought. That prompted me to write a new article.

[Continue Reading]

Who is balancing this game anyway?!

Recently, Team Fortress 2 had an update  delivered to the game that changed some content, including changing how Quickplay is used, however something that really interested me was the weapon changes, or rather the change to the Short Circuit. Now reading this somewhat confused me. Wasn’t the entire point of the Engineer’s beloved Short Circuit to make him more effective at safe-guarding his nest by more actively partaking in the defensive process? Why implement a downside that seems to discourage the Engineer playing defense? I then started to think back to the Short Circuit’s use after recent reiterations, back… [Continue Reading]
