Sandbagging – A Problem?

TeamFortress.TV is known to many (and to some proudly) as a ripe source of drama within the competitive community. Whether it’s the newest revelations about the ESEA scandal, players getting VAC banned, or a top player leaving a team, TF.TV will gulp it all up. This week has brought renewed attention upon a certain phenomenon – sandbagging. To recap, the ESEA Main grand finals took place on Wednesday night between Street Hoops eSports and AG Rinkuing with Rinku. AG Rinkuing with Rinku, which had been a roster moved down from Invite that had recently picked up several Invite players to… [Continue Reading]

January 23rd – January 30th

A fairly exciting week, this week, on 25th January, saw the addition of everyone’s completely forgotten favourite CTF map, CTF_Well, as well as some particle optimizations and a few bug fixes, particularly on Gravelpit. It took a very long time though for some very simple things, such as Medics getting a percentage on their Ubercharge meters. This wasn’t added until January 28th in 2009! Also added were the update progress and the level of an Engineer’s buildings in their HUD. Related posts: January 15th – January 22nd January 31st – February 7th May 25th – June 2nd

How to be an Average Medic

Let me be honest, I’m not the best Medic in the world. Nor am I of high level competitive standards. My level of skill is average, UGC Cardboard if you will. But nonetheless, since I’m an average Medic, that means that 50% of all other Medics are better than me, and the other 50% aren’t as good as me. There’s some room for improvement, not just from me, but from that other 50% as well. In today’s article, I’m going to give you some tips on how to be an average Medic. I won’t be going into huge detail, as… [Continue Reading]

Parts of official maps you can blow up

Did you know that in TFC the demoman could drop a detpack which blew up specific parts of official maps, opening up new pathways for teammates? TF2 doesn’t have anything destroyable with that much influence on the game flow, but there are  surprising number of things in official maps that don’t take well to damage. Luckily, this being TF2, most of them do indeed blow up. Headshot-Avoiding Unusuals

Alright, so you’ve bought yourself a fancy unusual. Or maybe you unboxed it. Good for you. Well done. But do you realise that you are now 99% more visible to the enemy team? No, I’m not referring to the bug where the Disco Beat Down effect could be seen through thin walls. I’m talking about the fact that you have a large glowing sign that says “Shoot me!” on your head. Maybe we ought to avoid this. Here’s my list of Headshot-avoiding unusuals. Related posts: Mad Metal Life is Rough When You Lose Your Stuff Team Fortress 2 update, 17/09/14… [Continue Reading]

If you could add a weapon of your own design into TF2, what would it be?

The Clear Shot Level 5 Grenade Launcher On hit: +20 health -25% clip size aabicus: As someone who loves the Grenade Launcher but wishes he had more survivability, this very simple setup (that should remind you of a current TF2 weapon) has been my favorite stat concept I’ve come up with. We’re going with Clear Shot for its name only because my suggestion was a little rude. In my opinion, it holds an attraction for all brands of Demoman. Sticky Launcher demos can use it to regain health if they get the opportunity, demoknights and Sticky Jumper demos have to… [Continue Reading]

The Non-Soldier Trolldier

Did you know that Demoman has a neat axe melee weapon?  No, not the Halloween one.  It’s great and all, but I’m talking about a different one.  You know, that one that’s under that pile of dust in the corner of your backpack, next to that Sun-on-a-Stick.  Yeah, the Scotsman’s Skullcutter, and I’m here to show you one of the best ways to actually use this weapon: pair it with the sticky jumper. January 15th – January 22nd

This week is a week late, but that’s not a bad thing because this week in TF2 history was actually rather dull. The earliest patch is in 2008, on Jan 15th, which fixed two bugs where the Medi Gun would continue to appear on switching class, and people zooming in too quickly as Sniper. 2009 had no updates at all in this period, neither did 2010, but on the 19th of Jan 2011, we saw a small bug fix update and the addition of a plate when one throws the Buffalo Steak Sandvich. 2012 was equally dull, only adding the… [Continue Reading]

A Change To Quickplay

So, in the Team Fortress 2 update on the 23rd of January, something changed. Quickplay changed. Other stuff changed too, of course, because that’s what happens in updates. But this Quickplay change was important. It goes to show that Valve might actually be listening. I’m talking about the Official Servers checkbox. And other stuff.
