The Larunda 3 Fashion Show

I’ve been to fashion shows before. I watched my sister take part in one. But nothing has been as weird as the fashion show I saw the other day. Let’s start from the beginning. So I was messing around in Warframe. I’d just unlocked Ceres and was bitching to Davjo about how much I hate this damn Boltor gun I made. It’s so inaccurate. And slow to fire. And slow to reload. With a mediocre clip size. Yet I have to see the damn thing through to level 30 for maximum efficiency. Davjo mentioned he was going to a FashionFrame… [Continue Reading]

Gargh! We’re all pirates ‘ere!

So, a Demoknight walks into a bar. He’s all dressed up in pirate cosmetics, parrot on his shoulder, a stupid peg leg, that damn Bounty Hat spitting coins everywhere, carrying a Persian Persuader. He’s also got a Tide Turner, but for some reason, it’s strapped to his crotch rather than his arm. Everyone’s giving him funny looks, but no one really wants to ask this drunken Demoknight what’s going on. Finally, the Demoknight makes it to the bar and orders a shot of whiskey, before demanding the entire bottle. The Sniper behind the bar finally decides to ask what’s up… [Continue Reading]

Mortal Online

I originally heard of Mortal Online while doing research for my upcoming nude mod article because the game comes with full-frontal birthday suits as a toggleable option. However, that wasn’t the only reason I felt like giving it an actual try; I read that the game eschews character classes, instead using Skyrim-style leveling systems for your skills. As in, your abilities increase through actually using said ability, so you organically become the sort of character you want to play. The other selling point is a very unforgiving loot system; if you die or get murdered by another player, you lose everything you’re… [Continue Reading]

FashionFrame

I know I’ve mentioned Warframe a few times lately, but I have suddenly found myself quite addicted to it. Warframe is a genuinely beautiful game, and because of cosmetics, you see a lot of fancy people walking around. Go to any Relay (casual chat and trade area) when the Void Trader is around (an NPC who sells pricey but cool mods, cosmetics and weapons) and you’ll be astounded by the amount of fanciness you’ll see. People like to jokingly call the game FashionFrame, just because the game can be so fancy. Thing is, there’s a LOT of customisable stuff. You… [Continue Reading]

Istaria – an MMO with Dragons

So I’m playing yet another boring MMO. This one’s called Istaria. Even though I’ve said that I often dislike MMOs, I’m playing this one. Why? Because you get to play as a dragon. An actual dragon, not some sort of half-human half-dragon hybrid. And I can play for free up to level 15. Afterwards it’s $10 per month. Sadly, I’m not a fan of subscription-based games, so I probably won’t play past level 15. Luckily level 15 applies to separate areas – adventuring and crafting – and they are levelled up separately. Unfortunately for me, I haven’t been playing long… [Continue Reading]

Bang! The Western-Themed Card Game

Since majer63 broke the ice on talking about card games, I thought I’d take a chance to dedicate an article to one of my first gaming loves, Bang!  Growing up, I had a huge circle of people at my house at any given time.We had the opposite problem of most gaming circles; we couldn’t play games limited to 2-6 players, we needed something up to 11 people could play at the same time. As one of the few games capable of handling that many people, Bang! was a mainstay in our repertoire, though it also works with as few as 3 players. Drawing… [Continue Reading]

Edge-Boosting: Trimping in Overwatch

Seasoned demoknights know that ‘trimping’ in Team Fortress 2 is the act of charging at an angle in such a way as to send you flying through the air significantly farther than you normally would. It’s a core ability of the demoknight that sets him apart from any other class in the game, and if you’ve never heard of it, iReima has a bunch of them in the videos on his channel: I wrote an article about trimping a while back at the behest of a fuzzy pink fluffball. While I confess I’ve never really gotten the hang of the… [Continue Reading]

I SMITE Thee – The Good

I’ll be honest, I’d heard of SMITE far before a friend told me there was going to be a beta for it on PS4. But I’d always brushed it off due to it being a MOBA. I expected the typical isometric view, the lack of control over your character that usually came with it, the weird robotic movement and heat-seeking attacks that were commonplace in this genre, only adding to the sense you’re watching an amazing character instead of playing one. SMITE, on the other hand, has a centred Max Payne style camera, while the gameplay has a heavy emphasis… [Continue Reading]

A thing about MMOs

I’ve been trying to like Elder Scrolls Online. Like a lot of things, I always end up not liking something for some reason and I can’t explain why. I’ll sit there for ages, playing a game and not knowing what makes me hate it. But with Elder Scrolls Online, I think I have finally put my finger on it. It’s because it’s an MMO. My first introduction to an MMO was a brief stint in Runescape. This was back in 2007-08, so it may have been a pretty good game, or it might have been shit, I don’t really remember.… [Continue Reading]

Demoknight is the wrong class and here’s why

You Demoknights are all already grabbing your pitchforks from the title alone, ready to slice my head off. If you are considering such actions, wait until the end of the article. But seriously, Demoknight is wrong. An explosive, high damage, explosive class that exists to blow up nests of Engineers, giving all that up so he can run around with a sword and shield and essentially less mobility (unless you are like Reima and co.) to deal single target damage sounds absolutely ludicrous. It’s DEMOman, for crying out loud! But the thing is, I am not against a melee-orientated class.… [Continue Reading]
