Tea Talk: Representation

I really cannot fathom what does having representation in a game’s cast have to do with anything. The reason why I raised this up is because I have seen many people asking for more representation in games. Whether it be representation for females, LGBT, minorities, or any demographic that isn’t a straight white guy, their reason is always: “Those people should be represented in video games.” If the game’s lore implies that the cast should feature characters that aren’t straight white guys, then sure, they should be there. If not, then there is no reason for that to be the case.… [Continue Reading]

BOUND

I’d pondered getting this game when I saw it on STEAM but never got around to picking it up. But when I reviewed the free games for November on Playstation Plus, I found it shining amongst a plethora of… less good games. The game begins with your avatar, the Princess, being told by the Queen that a monster is destroying her kingdom and that you must bring an end to it. As you move to the door that’s revealed to you on the far side of the throne room, you notice something. The Princess doesn’t walk but dances. Every movement,… [Continue Reading]

Grim Fandango Remastered currently available for free on GOG.com – 13/12/17

There’s been a bunch of free games lately that I haven’t gotten around to announcing, but Grim Fandango Remastered finally got me out of my chair and into my other chair to make an announcement. So yeah, the remastered version, by Doublefine, is available for free. Doublefine also have done a remaster of Day of the Tentacle and created Psychonauts. According to reviews, the remaster still has a lot of bugs in it, but eh, I’m sure it’s fine. Plus, free games, right? Get Grim Fandango Remastered here.

On Learning To Cook

As far as I’m concerned, everyone should know how to cook for themselves. You don’t need to be able to perfectly gut a fish and grill it to perfection, but knowing the basics, whether something is cooked through, properly defrosting food, safely preparing dishes, doing your best not to burn whatever it is you’re cooking, these are skills you need to look after yourself. You can’t just live off ready meals until the day you die. Alright, I’m not saying that you should avoid ready food completely. A pack of oven chips isn’t a problem, making your own chips is… [Continue Reading]

Half-Life: C.A.G.E.D.

A free Half-Life mod with a single player campaign by an ex-Valve developer? Why, yes please. Though it should really be called “C.A.G.E.D. – A Half-Life Mod” considering it has nothing to do with the world of Half-Life, it just shares the engine and models of the original. Some point through the game I noticed this and felt a tinge of disappointment but I wanted to reach the end and judge it accordingly on its own merit. The basic premise is that you’re locked up for some unspecified crime and you prefer the view from the outside of the bars,… [Continue Reading]

Yooka-Laylee

I’d been meaning to play this game for a long time but with multiplayer and co-op grabbing my attention so thoroughly it got left by the wayside for a very long time. But then- It continued to get left by the wayside for even longer because the prior statement didn’t change. But THEN, a massive thunderstorm came along, very cross with my inability to focus on diminishing my single-player backlog and zapped my internet provider so hard they exploded! Although I can’t confirm the validity of this story, I do remember my internet being gone for about a month so… [Continue Reading]

Cards going completely out of bounds, game uninstalled and staying that way

OB64 PTS Update #5 is up. Cards now have ten levels, with the old Level 1 being the new Level 2, old Level 3 being the new level 6, so on and so forth. Players who unlocked cards before OB64 will receive those cards in Level 4. Everyone will get Level 1 (the new Level 1, which is half of the old Level 1) cards for the cards they didn’t have before OB64. For the old OB64 system, the number of duplicates required to level up your cards is as follows: For this new system, the number of duplicates required to… [Continue Reading]

Cards Unbound, Game Uninstalled

Every player likes card customization. Thus, the first thing to go is meaningful card customization. Bravo. Implementing this five-points per card, twenty-five-points per loadout system, aside from causing hilariously broken and unbalanced cards that allows characters to deal around 23k burst damage when the maximum possible effective champion health is 5500 demolishes any meaningful customization. Now, just select the highest-leveled cards you have and you’re set for the next round. And once every card you own (or just those you cared about) is level 5, or you’re playing Ranked where every card is level 3, card customization is now almost as… [Continue Reading]

Buying Online Gifts in 2017

It’s coming up to Christmas, and I’m sure at least some of us are looking to get some gifts for others. Me not to much since I a. am skint and b. have already bought presents for my family, but that probably won’t stop me getting a few gifts for some close buddies. The problem is, the number one source of gifts for gamers seems to have become more and more of a pain in the ass when it comes to giving gifts. You see, in the good old days of a few years ago, you could buy a bunch… [Continue Reading]

‘Chili Con Vegies’ – Vegetarian Chili Meal Thing

You know those chili dishes with mince? Well this is a vegetarian option. It wasn’t really intended to be a vegetarian dish, but I didn’t have any mince on me, so I decided to wing it. And honestly the result was genuinely very nice. Not something I’d have as a meal on its own, but definitely very nice when accompanied with some bread and maybe some cheese grated on top. Ingredients 1 can of Kidney Beans, rinsed 1 can of Chick Peas, rinsed 1 can of sweet corn, rinsed 1 can of green peas, also rinsed About a can’s worth… [Continue Reading]
