The Learning Process to Killing a Teralyst Solo

On Friday 18th May 2018 at around 11pm, I managed to kill a Teralyst on my own with no squad mates. I’d attempted this a few times, only to be met with failure, or find I don’t have the right equipment. A much more experienced player might find it amusing how overly proud I was with my single Eidolon kill and might find it disheartening that I didn’t even attempt to try killing the other two Eidolons, but this is a boss fight made for four people, involving end-game gear and things like that – you basically have to do… [Continue Reading]

Tea Talk: Accessible depth for the solo player

This topic came into my mind some time ago. As someone who primarily plays alone, even in multiplayer games, this is actually something that should really have occurred to me considering how much it affects me. But I never really though about it until I saw someone talking about the merits of Overwatch over Fortnite. That person claimed that the depth of gameplay in Overwatch comes from the team’s hero composition, the maps being played and the whether you’re playing on offense or defense. Leaving aside the issue that every other team-based, class-based games have all of that and Overwatch… [Continue Reading]

*Insert E3-Related Things Here*

I’m supposed to care about E3. It’s pretty much the biggest gaming thing in a year. This is a gaming blog, I’m supposed to cover things like that. There’s a ton of cool and maybe not so cool stuff being shown. Heck, apparently, later on today (which would be Monday 11th of June, but you know what time zones are like), there’s going to be some Warframe-related stuff. On top of that, there was already a reveal for Anthem (which looks very Destiny-y and Warframe-y) and the vaguest mention of an actual Elder Scrolls 6 game, despite the fact all… [Continue Reading]

Wanted: Endo and Energy for New Tenno

The early parts of Warframe are weird. Everything is either too hard or weirdly easy, and difficulty jumps are all over the place. One minute you’re fine, slowly going around shooting the helmets off Corpus grunts, capturing targets who like to teleport and very, very slowly doing Spy vaults, the next you’re being overrun by hordes of Grineer and watching helplessly as they kill your Taxon and destroy that Cryopod you had to protect. Most of the time though, you’ll be fine, apart from the fact that everything is slowly getting harder and you’re not quite sure why. Okay, the… [Continue Reading]

The All-Rounders Volt Build, by an Everyday Volt Main

Volt makes up 50% of my total playtime in Warframe. I know him mostly inside out, from his weird two pairs of eyes to his little butt-cape. I regularly take Volt into lots of things and somehow manage to stay alive even when everyone else around me is dying. I honestly think it’s time to go through my build and how I manage to take him everywhere, from Kuva Fortress Assault to Sortie Defense, and not be totally useless. In hindsight, this might be because I am simply so used to playing Volt that I know his strengths and weaknesses.… [Continue Reading]

The cost of customizability

Consider it a follow-up to my series of articles on customizability in video games. While I was writing an article about Paladins and Overwatch, I realize that introducing the basics of Paladins’s gameplay is a lot more difficult than Overwatch’s. And the main reason for that is the customization options in Paladins. The Talent system (formerly known as Legendary Cards), the card loadout system, and the item system adds a lot of complexity, and understanding them is vital to progress in the game. Compared to that, Overwatch is much easier to talk about since there is less you need to know… [Continue Reading]

The 5 Best Joker Cops in Payday 2

Joker is my second-favorite skill in the game, behind Inspire. There are a lot of cops to choose from, but you only get to convert one or two, so it’s important you pick the best convertible cop available. So today, we’re covering The 5 Best Joker Cops in Payday 2! Starting with #1, the basic rule of thumb is to prioritize any cop carrying a shotgun. Shotguns are incredibly powerful in this game, there’s a reason Bulldozers carry them. The exception is #2) If you’re playing a heist with a lot of open area, like Heat Street or Armored Transport… [Continue Reading]

On Building and IKEAframe

IKEAframe is the joke name given to creating things inside your ship or in clan dojos in Warframe. For a game built around creepy bio-mechanical space ninjas roaming the solar system killing armies of evil clones and profit-driven madmen, there’s actually a lot of effort that has been put into making your own custom spaces. It wasn’t until this year though that we got better decorating tools. It used to be that you could only place things while in your Warframe, being unable to move the camera any way your Warframe couldn’t. This meant that building things on top of… [Continue Reading]

World of Goo

World of Goo is a nice game. It’s a cute game. It’s also kinda weird and has hints of a dystopian future controlled by ruthless corporations. But it’s good. I also had no idea where I got it from until I checked my Humble Bundle account. World of Goo, alongside a bunch of other small games like Fieldrunners and Osmos, was one of my very few Humble Bundle purchases, mostly because the games were DRM free. In fact, I actually used to have World of Goo installed on my previous smart phone. I have it on Steam, I have it… [Continue Reading]

A Literal Aimbot – A Thought Experiment

No, no, I’m not talking about actual cheats. Users of those are the scum of video game communities anywhere and everywhere. This article is about computer vision and its implementation. Consider it a thought experiment. So, you guys know how VAC or any other anti-cheats detects hacks and cheats, and bans whoever decides to use a bot to shoot for them in a game? I found a loophole that should, in theory, allow me to use a bot to aim and shoot for me, while bypassing anti-cheats completely*. *depending on how the anti-cheat functions and how you implement it. That… [Continue Reading]
