Rest in peace, Satoru Iwata

Satoru Iwata died on July 11th 2015, aged. He was Nintendo’s global president and one of the heavy hitters, keeping Nintendo afloat and making sure we, the gamers, no matter who we are or how old we are, were happy. In his brief 55 years on this planet, he did a LOT for gaming. My words here simply won’t do Iwata justice, so I’ll simply leave you with one of his quotes. “Above all, video games are meant to just be one thing: Fun for everyone.” I think he achieved that. Rest in peace.

Daily SPUF’s FAQ Page is Confirmed Gay

Written by aabicus while the Log In Via Steam button is borked. In light of the recent reveal that Miss Pauling is gay, we here at the Daily SPUF thought the time has never been better to make a sobering announcement about a page that we all know and love. Yes. Our Frequently Asked Questions page, viewable here, is gay. We’ve never called it out. None of our readers have ever expressed an interest in knowing, or even reading it, because it’s a horribly outdated page I dashed out back when we were still a buggy mess on Blog.com and… [Continue Reading]

TF2 Update – Map Workshop Beta

Hey, look, an update! With a blog post to go with it! It’s only been three months since we had the last announcement on the front page! Except that one was for the fricking Taunt workshop, and while that’s fun and all, we’ve not seen a single new taunt released. But now Valve have decided to one-up themselves while at the same time destroying the community-driven tf2maps.net site by announcing a map workshop! Yeah, a map workshop. In beta. It’s basically like the Garry’s Mod workshop. You find a map you like, you download it. If enough people download a… [Continue Reading]

Last Day to get Fractured Space free on Steam!

Do you like space combat games? Or do you just like getting free games that other people will have to spend money on? Well, Fractured Space has been free to download for the last two days, and if you get it before the free weekend ends, you get to keep it forever! Fractured Space combines the frantic fast-paced combat of a shooter with the global forward-thinking elements of a real-time strategy. In the one game I played, the strategy mostly manifested in a guy named Nanda cursing endlessly at his team of level 1 captains who wouldn’t leave home base. I’m… [Continue Reading]

Character Annihilation – A Series of Stories and SPUFers

Feels like ages. It really does. Time flies when you’re having fun. Especially here at the Daily SPUF. But alas, I think it’s time for something different. We pride ourselves on writing a lot of articles, mostly about Team Fortress 2, occasionally about Left 4 Dead and other games. We never take the time though to sit back and talk about the people behind SPUF, without which the Daily SPUF would be nothing. Let’s be honest though, interviews are kinda lame when people don’t have much to say, and you could find out about fellow SPUFers by adding them as… [Continue Reading]

Saxton Hale – The Tenth Class

Preface You know, after all this time, I would have thought someone would have been able to come up with a legitimate class description for the one and only Saxton Hale.  I’ve searched the SPUF archives,  and while there are some interesting ideas for non–core TF2, as far as I know, there is no actual proposal for Saxton Hale to join the Nine on the battlefield! This cannot continue.  Every day I ask myself: “What Would Saxton Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa-(breath)-Aaaaaaaaaale Do? (WWSHaaaaaD?)” and while the answer is usually “Grow a Moustache, you hippy!” today the answer to that question is “Try to Make Saxton Hale a Balanced Class in Team Fortress… [Continue Reading]

A Heads Up

Good day everyone! I just wanted to gather everyone round so I could have a quick chat with you all. Really, I should do this more often, you know, as a community thing. First things first, I’d like to thank you all for A Week of Love and Hate. It was a success! And it was awesome seeing lots of articles written by lots of people. It really made a change. It was also nice having a week of me not having to actually write anything at all. There’s also something interesting to note: We all thought in a similar… [Continue Reading]

A Week of Love and Hate

Hello everyone! Happy Valentines day, and welcome to A Week of Love and Hate! Those of you who have partners, I hope you spend a lovely day with your loved one and all that. As for the rest of you who don’t have a partner, don’t fret, I’ve got something just as good! Okay, maybe not just as good, but hopefully it’ll cheer you up. For this week only, we’ve got a theme! In conjunction with buy-loads-of-chocolate-and-flowers day, the Daily SPUF is having a week full of opinions on both our most loved and least loved classes! You see, we… [Continue Reading]

Characters and Conga

Not long ago, I created a thread on SPUF. Normally, my threads are a bit of fun, and this thread was no exception. All I did was tell everyone to leave their main loadout in the thread, and I’d make a giant conga picture out of it. This article sets out to reveal that giant picture (although since I used it as the featured image, that’s kinda moot, but here you see it in all its glory). But before I do that, I want to have a little talk. Being the editor of a blog means I can do that… [Continue Reading]

The 600th Daily SPUF Article

It seems like five minutes ago that we published the 500th Daily SPUF Article. I actually lost track of time. Plus other awful things happened, which meant that the 600th article came quicker than I thought. The last 100 articles have been yet another wild ride. If you can call it that. So yeah. This is the 600th article. Woo. For the previous hundred post milestones, I’ve done contests. I was going to do a contest this time round, but contests are, well, kinda lame when you don’t have any time to prepare prizes or a theme for said contest.… [Continue Reading]
