A Medi Gun for every situation

When you play Medic, everyone’s relying on you. In the competitive scene, people rely on you even more. They scrutinize you, right down to your weapon choice. What Medi Gun you take will make or break a game. Assuming they’re allowed, since both the Quick Fix and the Vaccinator are currently unfavourable for numerous reasons. Not because they’re both bad… But anyway, that’s beside the point. With any normal Medi Gun, you’re stuck with it until you die. If you pick the wrong Medi Gun for the situation, you screw up everything. So what if there was a Medi Gun… [Continue Reading]

Why the Rocket Jumper is Bad for Tf2

Yes I know we have all seen Star_ and other Youtube celebrities stomp upon the lowest of pubs with this weapon, but those tend to be highlight clips. The Rocket Jumper is a weapon that completely removes your ability to deal ranged explosive damage as a Soldier, you can no longer take out sentries, you can’t properly defend a Medic, and overall you cannot do anything to support your team. But at least you can jump around to your heart’s content while the rest of your team actually gets work done. Why does this weapon even exist you may ask?… [Continue Reading]

Weapons that Reward you for doing your Job

Within Team fortress 2 there are quite a few weapons that people claim are imbalanced because “they reward you for doing what you should already be doing”. Of course I do not understand how this is a bad thing, how is rewarding players for accomplishing something they are supposed to do as a bad thing? Would you rather valve release weapons that encourage not doing your job? He says, angrily looks at the Rocket Jumper. One of the most notorious of these weapons is the Diamondback, a revolver that grants in critical hits for every sapped building and backstab kill… [Continue Reading]

Randomness you can’t see…

It’s been a while since we last talked about randomness. Generally this sort of conversation dives to horrible depths, going over the same arguments over and over again until either one side gives in, it starts getting nasty or the thread goes off topic. Either way, the thread dies a horrible death. It keeps on happening. What’s interesting though is that the majority of these arguments are about random critical hits. The other random factors, random bullet spread and random damage spread, often lurk in the shadows, untouched. Why? With random bullet spread, there is rarely an argument for that.… [Continue Reading]

The Eureka Effect’s Wasted Potential

The Eureka Effect is one of the few weapons where a well intentioned buff turned out to be a complete nerf. For those of you who do not know the Eureka Effect is currently a wrench that allows you to teleport to your spawn and to your own teleporter exit. Now that may sound like a ninjaneers wet dream but in exchange for this potential mobility you lose 50% repair rate and 50% build rate, which makes you take over twice as long to build a sentry. Rather than the already slow 8 swings per upgrade, you are making a… [Continue Reading]

A Run Down on This Year’s Festive Weapons

For the last few years, we’ve received Festive Weapons, weapons made pretty and Christmassy for the winter holidays. The first year, we got 9 stock weapons, the second year,we got 9 mostly unique weapons like the Huntsman and the Flare Gun, the third year we got 9 more unique popular weapons and this year, we got, um, 7 weapons. Yeah, some people missed out. The weapons this year were the following: Bonk! Atomic Punch, Shotgun, Backburner, Chargin’ Targe, Bonesaw, SMG and Revolver. A larger collection of stock weapons, at the expense of some classes not getting their own weapons and… [Continue Reading]

Dem Choppas

This article is a shoutout to my favorite TF2 Mod; dem choppas. Who wants a plinky submachinegun when they can have the most famous assault rifle in world history? There are all sorts of reasons to use dem choppas. Reason 1: They’re dem choppas. There’s no other real reason. I mean, they’re choppas. I’ve wanted to write an article about dem choppas for a while now but I couldn’t think of anything meaningful to say. But now, we’re like three days behind on articles and I need something to write for yesterday but I don’t want to publish a real… [Continue Reading]

The Awkward State of Demoknight

The Demoknight is in a really awkward place within TF2, despite being the closest thing TF2 has to a tenth class with its own mobility, strengths, and weaknesses. The main issue with this is Demoknights were never as good as their sticky launcher brethren at dealing large amounts of damage, taking out fortified barricades, and overall keeping the enemy team suppressed. However in exchange for this loss of firepower the Demoknight gets a close range, high risk high reward charge mechanic that allows him to get to places no Demoman could ever dream of getting to. At least he could… [Continue Reading]

Fun things about the Grappling Hook

I’ll be frank, I don’t like Mann Power, because it utterly sucks if you’re not one of the 9 people with a power up. You just get your backside handed to you unless you’re clearly skilled enough to outplay them. But on the other hand, the Grappling Hook, the second stock all-class action item after the Spellbook Magazine, is tons of fun. Why? Because everyone can use it whenever they want, as long as the server allows it. And I, being the antisocial offline player that I am, decided to experiment round with it. First off, to enable the hook,… [Continue Reading]

Demoman got nerfed, but FAIRLY this time! – Smissmas 2014

After EotL, there wasn’t much hope in the TF2 community. But Valve brought a small amount of hope back with the 2014 Smissmas update. And what did it contain? Those promised Demoman changes from the Love and War update! You all remember that, right? The changes that broke him and made Engineers run rampant that they thankfully reversed? This time round, Valve actually thought about it AND listened to the community! First off, here’s the patch notes. I warn you now, it’s a biggie! All Players who play TF2 during the event will receive a Gift: a Stuffed Stocking! Stockings… [Continue Reading]
