A Nostalgic Ramble – GaiaOnline

I like to think that I discovered the internet in 2007. This was the year that I had my own personal computer with an internet connection and was finally free of parental surveillance. The first thing I did was lurk across a bunch of sites, before joining BZPower under the name Phovos the Raptor. That was the start of my online life. I browsed a lot of sites. I discovered SPUF in 2009 but didn’t join until 2010, when I started playing Team Fortress 2 properly. I discovered a lot of places back then and didn’t join until later. One… [Continue Reading]

A Jack of all Trades on the Plains

“Bloody hell Medic stop with the Warframe content!” some of you may beg. No. I like Warframe. And some of our Warframe content is the most viewed stuff on the site. Plus, I feel I might have some useful tips for those who are newer to the game. “But you’re going to talk about Volt again, aren’t you?” Yes, actually. Because there’s so much stuff going on in the Plains of Eidolon that you need someone who can do a bit of everything. And Volt might not be the best at everything, but he’s bloody good at a lot of… [Continue Reading]

Random Tips for Plague Star – the new Operation

Fancy a chance at getting the new Hunter series of set mods, that work on companions? Fancy a chance to get the Snipetron? How about the Ether Daggers which you probably sold after doing that New Strange quest then realised that you needed them for mastery rank? Fancy walking across the entirety of the Plains in order for the same rewards to be repeated over and over? If any of those appeal to you, then the new Operation: Plague Star is for you! So a massive infested meteor has crashed in the Plains of Eidolon and now it’s spitting infested… [Continue Reading]

Going Against the Grain – Warframe Builds Without Min-Maxing

In Warframe, it’s common to min-max a build. By that, I mean that many people build a weapon or character to excel in one specific aspect. For example, a person playing Titania might build her to maximize her Razorwing ability, while letting other abilities fall by the wayside. Or perhaps a Saryn player might put her entire kit into spreading spores as much as possible. Trinity is a good example of min-maxing, as you either put as much duration on as possible for Blessing, or you have as little duration on as possible so you can spam Energy Vampire. If… [Continue Reading]

The Vita-Saw after its first rework

Seven years after it was first introduced, the Vita-Saw received its first change in the Jungle Inferno update. The old Vita-Saw’s stats are rather easy to understand. In exchange for a 10 Hp reduction to the Medic’s maximum health (150 Hp → 140 Hp), the Medic gets to keep up to 20% of his Übercharge meter upon death. This means that the Medic gets to respawn with the amount of Über he had before he died, capped at 20%. Sure, it’s a bummer to die at 100% Übercharge and respawning with only 20% of your hard-earned Über, but it’s better than respawning with… [Continue Reading]

Get To The Orange Door

NOTE – This was the version of the demo I played upon writing the article but it’s now outdated and hence will look different from the modern demo if you try it! (I actually preferred the brighter visuals of the old one myself but it’s still the same solid game underneath!) Funnily enough, I found this game thanks to the developer commenting on the Team Fortress 2 Instant Uber exploit I was watching. I then looked up the game on Steam and to my near-fatal shock saw a “Download Demo” button. Don’t see many of those nowadays. I’d only seen… [Continue Reading]

Moving to the frontlines as Heavy after Jungle Inferno

Long time ago, moving out of spawn as a Heavy is simple. If you don’t use the Gloves of Running Urgently, you are going to reach the frontlines just in time for Half Life 3’s release. But after the Jungle Inferno update, there have been various changes to the Heavy and his weapons. So maybe it’s time to take another look at the options available for the slowest, least mobile class in the game to get from spawn to the objective. A lot of times, I will be talking about Heavy with a Medic rather than just him alone. A… [Continue Reading]

Tea Talk: “Only pirate AAA games, and never pirate indies.”

“Only pirate AAA games, and never pirate indies.” This is the one rule to pirating that I got from my friends when I first started gaming. Throughout my time as a gamer, this is the one golden rule that almost everyone I met follows. In fact, the one time I met a person who doesn’t follow that rule and pirates indie games, everyone around him responded negatively almost immediately, myself included. Pirating indie games is just repulsive to me. After all, indie games are made by small studios and sometimes individual developers. They normally poured a fair bit of their… [Continue Reading]

Worms

I only got into PC gaming in 2009. Before then, I could have been considered a console gamer, but I only had a Wii and a Playstation 2, and before that I had a Playstation 1. I vividly remember saving my pocket money and my Christmas money with my siblings to buy the Playstation 2 a few weeks after it was released, but I have no idea what games we actually had for it. Luckily, our old PS1 games were all still compatible, which meant we could play the family favourite: Worms Armageddon. Over the years, I have owned five… [Continue Reading]

A few words on the Gas Passer

Out of the four new Pyro weapons added, the Gas Passer is probably the least-talked-about of the bunch. The Dragon’s Fury is a new primary that works differently from other flamethrowers and is a pretty good DM weapon, with cries of it being OP spreading across the forums like wildfire when it first appeared. The Thermal Thruster is a freaking jetpack that grant Pyros unprecedented mobility for the class. The Hot Hand is now the #1 joke weapon of the game, and in a good way. Running around slapping people and dashing off with the speed boost makes it a… [Continue Reading]
