What’s New in Planetside 2

Every couple years or so I feel the need to boot Planetside 2 back up, just to see what’s changed in Steam’s pre-eminent Spandex in Space Simulator. Last time they added orbital air strikes and the whole construction minigame. This time around, nothing that drastic seems to have newly entered the fray. But there is one very-obvious addition you’ll see the first time you spawn into the map. New Neutral Spaceship! There’s now an orbiting spaceship called Sanctuary. The Daily SPUF Discord and other assorted things!

Good news everyone! Times are changing! We’re doing the same thing everyone else is doing and ol’Medic here has set up a Discord server! I mean, why the hell not? On Medics and Machines

Hi everyone, Phovos here. Today, I’d like to discuss Mann VS Machine. If you ever played Mann VS Machine before the Two Cities update, you might remember how bad playing Medic was. Medics were essentially useless, which was a stark opposite to normal gameplay. The only vaguely effective loadout relied on getting Kritzkrieg Ubers as fast as possible, but even then, people would prefer another Heavy or Demoman instead. Thankfully, the Two Cities update made it so Medics were actually useful again. Why the “stats” discussion on any weapon forum doesn’t do anything

As I’ve just now gone through the Iron Gauntlet new stuff, I’ve come to realize that some of the biggest discussions about the update were about what statistics the new weapons should have. Let me tell you why no “STATS!” discussion will ever actually be useful. #1. There are certain things Valve will never add to the game. These include: weapons that increase a Heavy’s, Scout’s, or Medic’s maximum HP. The Dalokohs is an exception but is only a temporary buff. I know you want to surprise us but…

So over in PAYDAY 2, the developers of the game have gone and announced some rather surprising things, namely microtransactions. Overkill kept this all secret and let it all go as a giant day one surprise for Crimefest. It’s sparked outrage in the community, especially since Overkill originally said they’d never introduce microtransactions on multiple occasions. On top of this, awkward silence has ended up killing the dedicated modding community, particularly ones like GoonMod (since everything was against AI enemies, what your gun looked like never bothered anyone) and PD2STATS, a major community-run site, has shutdown. Updates, glorious updates!

Earlier this week another TF2 update was released. I’m gonna get right to the point, that is, what they did to the Carnival of Carnage map:     That’s a screenshot from the Steam news feed, by the way. If you’ve read through it, you should be able to see why I’m so excited.
