The Perks of being a True Master

It took me a long, long time to reach True Master in Warframe. I played through a myriad of events, sat through a maze of reworks and probably spent a little too long in Sanctuary Onslaught. And all the common farming missions. Gian Point is quite a standout, especially when it comes to Intrinsics. I played quite slowly though, only gunning for the end once I reached MR28 and saw that an end was in sight. That mad dash though was just as intense as someone attempting to speed-run the game. Reaching MR30 and becoming a True Master allowed me… [Continue Reading]

Three Ways to Travel the Steel Path

The Steel Path is a conundrum. It was originally just an alternate area for players to test their high level builds, that gave a handful of rewards too. The idea is really simple: enemy levels are increased by 100, and everything has extra shields and armour. The rewards were never amazing, just the odd Steel Essence, as well as a higher chance of drops overall. Aside from those though, there was no real reason to play Steel Path, aside from the initial completion affinity. But then people realized you could farm so much Kuva from the Steel Path. So the… [Continue Reading]

A Quick Guide to Escapes in Payday 2

When you play the older, less-flashy heists, you may notice that you’ll occasionally get a bonus day involving your getaway van crashing and you needing to hold out until a new one arrives. These are called Escape Maps, and the game doesn’t really do anything to explain what they are or why they happen. So today, just cause I remember being confused by them as a new player, I thought we could cover 5 Facts About Escapes. 1. There are several in-heist factors that increase the odds of an Escape occurring. Specifically, most heists start with a base percentage chance… [Continue Reading]

Thoughts on the Call of the Tempestarii Quest

The Call of the Tempestarii is a relatively short quest, tied to a new Warframe. It’s a very simple quest with nothing really challenging in it. This is also the name of Update 30, which is bringing along some other bits and pieces. Things like Void Storms, and hints at Corpus Liches. However, those need some… time to be digested, and for the bugs to be ironed out. So, today, I’m just gonna talk about the quest. I would have made a walk-through, but frankly, the quest is really simple. I’ve played it twice and, sadly, in both my recordings,… [Continue Reading]

Smug Snake Community Day

It’s been ages since we had a Community Day for a starter. The last one was for Piplup in January 2020. So, really, a Community Day for Snivy, the first of the Sinnoh starters, was long overdue. The little smug snake finally got what it deserved, with a nice, sunny community day. A pretty standard Community Day. This community day wasn’t much different from the Roselia or Machop Community Days. There’s 30 free ultra balls in the shop, and there’s one Pokemon spawning everywhere. Luckily for me, it was sunny pretty much all day, meaning all the Snivies spawning everywhere… [Continue Reading]

Terraforming and Landscaping

As I play Minecraft more and more, I become pickier and pickier at where I set up my base. If the locale doesn’t look interesting enough, I’ll be moving somewhere else. Even if it means dragging cows and sheep over a thousand blocks, which I normally have to do since I ended up staying in the mountains most of the time. And after I find a place that I like, I modify the area so that it looks better. I start off by cleaning up the area. Generally, I’ll have a temporary base set up first since I need a… [Continue Reading]

A Brief History of the Daily SPUF

Wow, we’ve hit 3,000 articles! I’m honestly blown away by how many people have decided to join us on what began as a simple repository for memorable SPUF threads. At this point, most of our readers have never even visited the original Steam Powered User Forums, which is a crazy thing to think. So since the majority of our readerbase wasn’t there for the early days, I thought I could join the congo-line of celebratory articles by chronicling the many iterations and events that the SPUFblog has experienced through the years. This blog was originally born due to a discussion… [Continue Reading]

Three Thousand And One Posts

If memory serves, the first post I’ve came across from here was aabicus’s post on the Half-Zatoichi. Back then, I hadn’t enrolled in university. I remember reading an article a day on the bus to school. 3000 posts and 8 years later, we’ve reached 3001 posts on this site. This is largely thanks to Medic, who I believe is responsible for around 60% of all published posts. Writers come and go, the site changed from blog.spuf.info to spuf.org, Steam Powered User Forums, the forum that this blog is born from, has been shut down. A YouTube channel, The SPUF of… [Continue Reading]

The 3000th Article

Wow. This is the 3000th article. That’s a pretty big number. Sure, in the grand scheme of things, 3000 isn’t that many. For a video game blog, written in our spare time? Yeah, that feels like a massive number. Congratulations to us, for reaching our 3000th article. Things have been tough though. 2020 alone was a massive shit show, and there were definitely a few times here and there where I didn’t think I’d get an article scheduled on time. We still managed it though. No matter what happened over all these years (and a lot of things have happened),… [Continue Reading]

My Problem With Mastery Locks on Weapons

The other day, I mentioned a low MR Volt, who had just begun his adventure. As we played with him, he asked a lot of questions. His biggest one was “where can I find a good AOE weapon for my MR?” That’s a genuinely great question, because Warframe has a LOT of enemies and you need a lot of them killed. Back then, at MR4, the only weapon we could really recommend was the Hek, since most explosive weapons unlock at MR5 or higher. Eventually, we gave the guy some suggestions, as well as a lot of probably unnecessary help.… [Continue Reading]
