The Great Pyro Rework by Someone Who Doesn’t Play Pyro

Yes, that title is stupid, yes, that is what I am about to do. I play Pyro a little, but I can’t say that I am a Pyro main. Then again, neither can the TF Team. But don’t worry, I’m not going to do anything dumb. Overall Changes Pyro’s base speed and health are fine. He’s supposed to be in the middle, and since every other >150hp class runs slower than 100% move speed, I don’t see why Pyro should get any more mobility, running-wise. The main changes here are to how his weaponry should work. Afterburn Pyro keeps his… [Continue Reading]

MeeMs Thoughts On The Balance Of Power

After the recent update (Or if you’re reading this in the future the MyM update) many of us are left questioning two things. Firstly, what the hell are the TF team doing and secondly, do they actually play this game? Well from recent discussions it seems pretty clear that Valve would likely try to break down weapon stats into more logical data. So to begin with we must query what actually makes a weapon. For most weapons in TF2 we can split it up into it’s effective range and its DPS. If we look at a simple example say… the… [Continue Reading]

History of Healing

I mentioned in my previous article that TF2 was the first multiplayer game that introduced me to the concept of playing the team medic. That got me thinking of where that intrigue lead me to in games to come. Well, spoilers, it lead me to bullets, explosions, dodging and dragging my teammates out of whatever hell they had fallen into. Thankless work, usually, but someone’s gotta do it! On the plus side, playing the role of Medic in chaotic shooters is an adrenaline rush of its own. But if that isn’t enough, resting on the knowledge that you’re making every… [Continue Reading]

More Daily SPUF changes!

Hi everyone! Just a little quick article going over a few changes I’ve made to the Daily SPUF via this shitty chrome book. But first off, holy fuck using this chrome book is fucking tedious. Would be amazing for someone who spends all day on Facebook, but for someone who actually uses more than Chrome, it sucks. Anyway! Changes time! The first thing you’ll probably notice is that the main menu has changed again. I realised that there’s no link to view all articles in chronological order (newest to oldest) so I decided to add the Articles button. This will… [Continue Reading]

War of the adorable!

Have you ever played a game where you control a bunch of soldiers, but had them revolt against you? Maybe it’s something about not wanting to rush to their deaths, but no matter the cause, it’s always annoying when people don’t follow orders. That’s why I’m introducing the Human Tanks. These cute girls aren’t afraid to die for the cause. In fact, they want to die for their commander. In their minds, there is no better way to go than to die in a fiery explosion. War of the Human Tanks is a top down strategy game published by Fruitbat… [Continue Reading]

On Saints Row 3 and 4

So I’ve been playing Saints Row: The Third with aabicus lately and we’ve been having a blast despite the iffy connection. I’ve mentioned Saints Row before, we actually brought up one of our Daily SPUF articles while playing, Both games get a lot of shit from deviating too much from ‘the series’, i.e. Saints Row 2, and being too over the top. I do get a lot of those criticisms – Saints Row 2 is overall a better game with more options, even if it is dated, I feel that Saints Row 3 does have merits of its own. Most… [Continue Reading]

Mirror’s Edge and Me

When I first saw Mirror’s Edge I thought it looked incredible. I downloaded and played the demo on the 360 repeatedly and it was mind-blowing to me to see and play something so fresh. Then eventually through the sweet, sweet nectar to a high school student that is birthday money, I bought the full game. And I loved every moment of it… Except for some bits, BUT FOR THE MOST PART I loved it! The clean and stylish aesthetics, the focus on momentum and flow, no HUD, no screen clutter. Just you, your ability as a Runner and the world… [Continue Reading]

Welp, there goes my laptop…

Bad news everyone. I am going to be without my laptop for at least two weeks. On Thursday night, my laptop froze for ten minutes half way through the song Bloom by Radiohead, then again during Crystal Ball by Keane, making a god awful racket. I shut the computer down eventually and when I turned it back on, I decided to go find the cause of the problem. Of course, searching “computer freezes randomly” in a search engine, Google or otherwise, gives too many results. Pro tip, try and narrow things down by entering your operating system and the make… [Continue Reading]

Things about Team Fortress 2 I refuse to believe

While making ice cream that I pretend has way less calories than it actually does, I realized there a quite a few things about Team Fortress 2 that I refuse to believe. So here’s my list. Random crits Guys, if you solely clicked on this article hoping to find me complain about random crits, you’re welcome. I made this one easy for you. Now go on with your “MAGGOT”-life. I’m not sure why TF2 has random crits in the first place. Their controversial nature is controversial in itself. You find yourself liking them each time you get a random crit… [Continue Reading]

Warframe – Still Not Sure

So I said I was angry at video games. I still am. But I felt that Warframe deserved a third chance. Yes, third chance, because I played it over a year ago, got stuck somewhere, stopped playing, then uninstalled it to make space for another game. Elder Scrolls Online, I think. Coincidentally, Elder Scrolls Online was uninstalled to make room for Warframe this time round. 60GB of hard drive space could be used for a good 5-6 normal sized games. My first time playing was on an old account. I don’t even remember playing that account, and I’d been told… [Continue Reading]
