Coming Soon – A Week of Love and Hate 2

Well, we may have missed Valentines Day 2016, but you know what? We don’t need any commercial holidays. Love is eternal. It is everywhere. You can’t escape it. Oh also hate is eternal too. Aaaaanyway, do you remember that Valentines Day thing we did last year, a week of love and hate? I think it’s time to do another week! Last time round, we went over classes, writing about how much we loved or loathed the nine mercenaries of Team Fortress 2. This time though, I think it’s time that we expand. Or at least change the subject. Or something… [Continue Reading]

A Very Festive SPUF Event 2

Well, the Very Festive SPUF event, the sequel at least, has been and gone. It involved a bunch of maps, a bunch of changes, me not playing MvM like I wanted and a bunch of other bits and pieces. A random bunch of maps were played, including none of the maps we originally picked out. Apart from Coldfront and Viaduct. I originally wanted to do a Highlander match like the last Festive SPUF event, but I knew we simply didn’t have the numbers. I considered doing MvM but people didn’t like that idea. So we all kinda ended up just… [Continue Reading]

900 Articles of Spufiness – Giveaway

Today is quite a milestone. Yes, we have had milestones for every hundredth article we’ve posted here, but come on! This is the 900th article! That’s surely impressive, don’t you think? The Daily SPUF has kept its promise of being daily and has posted an article every single day for the last 900 days. aabicus and I have made sure of it. In order to celebrate such a vast number of posts, we’re doing a giveaway. It’s only a small one, but I like to think it’s a nice way of saying thanks. Two lucky winners, one from SPUF and… [Continue Reading]

Scream Fortress is here!

Scream Fortress has arrived! And technically it’s brought a new stupid event with it! Valve have somewhat kept up with its promises and has announced a bunch of community stuff. Although once again they have completely and utterly failed to scare us to death. Like Gun Mettle but not at all like Invasion (which will be ending soon), they’ve gone ahead with the contract system, this time called the Scream Fortress Gargoyle. Not the greatest name, but gargoyles are cool so I don’t mind. This time though, rather than weapon skins, you get items from previous events or a chance… [Continue Reading]

Scream Fortress has been somewhat cancelled, for good or bad?

There’s been a new blog post over at Team Fortress.com and for some it brings good news, others not so good news. In it, the Team Fortress team explains how they’ve been busy working hard (and watering the potted plant for a change) and they mention some of the up coming things that they are working on. The TF team also explains how, because they’re working on all this new cool stuff, our yearly Halloween event has been cancelled. Scream Fortress has been a bit of a tradition for the last 5 years, starting off with modest Harvest_event and finishing… [Continue Reading]

Medic goes to Comicon

And now for something completely different! Yesterday, I went to Cyprus Comic Con. Or CCC as it was called. I dressed up and everything! And because it’s somewhat gaming-related, I feel it’s worth talking about. Plus, I can’t let aabicus do all the real life articles! So yeah, Cyprus Comic Con 2015. This is the second proper one they’ve done. I heard about the 2014 Comic Con last year literally two days too late, and swore I’d go this year. And that’s what I did. The original plan was to go as a TF2 character. But that notion was quickly… [Continue Reading]

Retrospective 2, or what little I saw of it…

Retrospective 2 is a TF2 tournament, more like one we’d recognise, with eliminations and things like that. Normally, I see all these things advertised on the News section of the Team Fortress 2 website and I don’t honestly pay much attention to them. They’re tournaments I’m not skilled enough to play in, or they’re LANs which I’ll never be able to play in, or it’s an announcement about ETF2L. That’s pretty much it. I wouldn’t have given Retrospective 2 any further thought if it wasn’t for W0lk, the SPUF 6v6 roamer and 4v4… thing… asking me about it. You see,… [Continue Reading]

Arena Respawn – Not at all serious fun

On Saturday 11th of July, Confusion hosted the SPUF Arena Respawn event with some help from Sham and Davjo and I got to try out Arena Respawn for the first time. Now, I’m a bit of a purist, I like things unmodded in TF2. Plus, Arena was my original game mode after 24/7 Junction, and I was quite good at it, particularly the Arena-only maps that no one else really plays. Not great, since I’ve always been bad at Deathmatching, but I’ve played safe and strategically and also know when to go “who gives a fuck”. So let’s have a… [Continue Reading]

A Look Back at TF2 SPUF’s Non-TF2 Gatherings

Traditionally, TF2 SPUF events have always taken place in the game to which the forum is dedicated. But that’s not always the case. Especially when the meeting is more casual or introduced by a relative unknown, we can get some esoteric spur-of-the-moment parties with some pretty impressive turnouts. This is just a fun recollection of some good times (and one pretty bad time) from SPUF’s history! 1) 100% Orange Juice. This one is less a single event than a recurring mini-community, but a lot of the old itsurblog crowd regularly play 100% Orange Juice together after hugthebed2 first commented on… [Continue Reading]

Character Annihilation – A Series of Stories and SPUFers

Feels like ages. It really does. Time flies when you’re having fun. Especially here at the Daily SPUF. But alas, I think it’s time for something different. We pride ourselves on writing a lot of articles, mostly about Team Fortress 2, occasionally about Left 4 Dead and other games. We never take the time though to sit back and talk about the people behind SPUF, without which the Daily SPUF would be nothing. Let’s be honest though, interviews are kinda lame when people don’t have much to say, and you could find out about fellow SPUFers by adding them as… [Continue Reading]
