A Bunch of Lovely Electric Warframes

Volt couldn’t remember how he got there. He wasn’t actually sure where ‘there’ was. Either way, it was a very tight space, with only just enough room for him to stand up straight. What bothered Volt more though were all the needles sticking out of his metallic Warframe flesh. Every few seconds, a tingling sensation would run up his body then drain away, as if the needles were… sucking electricity out of him? Volt wasn’t sure. The last thing Volt could remember was being attacked by a literal ton of… No, they weren’t Zanuka Hunters. If they were, they had… [Continue Reading]

World of Goo

World of Goo is a nice game. It’s a cute game. It’s also kinda weird and has hints of a dystopian future controlled by ruthless corporations. But it’s good. I also had no idea where I got it from until I checked my Humble Bundle account. World of Goo, alongside a bunch of other small games like Fieldrunners and Osmos, was one of my very few Humble Bundle purchases, mostly because the games were DRM free. In fact, I actually used to have World of Goo installed on my previous smart phone. I have it on Steam, I have it… [Continue Reading]

IT’S OVER 1900! Celebrating 1900 articles and 900 Medic articles – Giveaway!

I said I wouldn’t do milestone articles and stuff but I like the number 900 and the number 1900 has the number 900 in it as well, so double bubble. The 2000th article is still a way away, and it’s unlikely that the articles I write will coincide with the big 2K. Also I just kinda wanted to do a giveaway. But first off, let’s spend a moment thinking just how awesome we are, having published over 1900 articles on the Daily SPUF, one a day since our inception, and the fact that Missy Medic here, the person writing this… [Continue Reading]

Thick

Sirens blared as the three Tenno charged through the Corpus base. They were looking for their target, a teleporting Corpus Tech who had knowledge on a super weapon the Corpus were looking to build for the Grineer. The Corpus Tech in question was teleporting between rooms, but so far the Tenno had kept up. Suddenly, a lockdown was initiated. While the first two Tenno managed to slide under the doors into the same room as the Tech, the third was locked out. “You alright back there, Excal?” Volt shouted as he drew his polearm. “I’ll be fine…” Excalibur shouted back.… [Continue Reading]

Playing Left 4 Dead 2 with Stupid Mods

In my siblings’ quest to find something we all want to play, I suggested Left 4 Dead 2. We’d been suggesting it for ages, but never got around to it because sister’s computer ‘wasn’t letting her’ or something like that. But on the weekend, she clicked L4D2 and it loaded no problem. Brother squealed with joy, and I silently lamented the fact that we were all going to die repeatedly. Of course, I’d also forgotten that I’d also installed a fuckton of dumb mods. Okay, not a fuckton. One of the mods I had was genuinely useful. It, like many… [Continue Reading]

A First Night on the Plains

Volt seemed uncertain as the heavy Orokin doors slammed shut behind him. This was his second time out on the plains. The last time he had been here, it was day time, and he lacked the proper tools to not only fight the swarms of Grineer roaming around, but he lacked the ability to gather other resources, such as ores and gems. He wasn’t going to make that same mistake twice. Volt also planned on not making another mistake twice. Today, he was here on the Plains on his own. No more waiting for Rhino to kill everything. No more… [Continue Reading]

A Series of Unlikely Gaming Stories 1 – The Lost Heavy

So I started playing Team Fortress 2 when the Free to Play update came out. I was never someone to just jump in to whatever everyone else was doing, I was always the guy who goes to random servers and messes around in their own way. I’d played a handful of maps already, a CP map and an obvious CTF map. And I played 2fort as well. There were tons of other, different server types, from ‘achievement’ servers to ‘vsh’ maps that I later found out stood for “Versus Saxton Hale”. One map type stood out. It was called surf_something… [Continue Reading]

Seven Stories for Smissmas

Ah, alliteration, don’t you love it? Well I do. There’s something nice about how words all starting with the same letter roll off the tongue. Like poetry but nicer and simpler. And potentially less posh and snobby. What’s better than alliteration though? Stories. Well, not always, it depends on the story. A bad fan fiction about two characters who would normally hate each other somehow ending up screwing is always going to be horrible. And speaking of horrible, the holiday season just isn’t the right time for scary stories. No, I did that for Halloween. Actually, I did that twice.… [Continue Reading]

The Horseless Headless Horsemann visits Gorge

The Horseless Headless Horsemann checked the small piece of paper, looked at the heavy doors, then checked it again. Surely this couldn’t have been the place. Ever since he’d taken this Grim Reaper gig as a side job to pay his student loans, the Headless Horsemann had been to a lot of weird places, but this was just some weirdly decorated old castle that had been used as storage before someone had converted into a haunted mansion. But no, apparently this was the right place. With a sigh, the Headless Horsemann knocked on the door. He had a job to… [Continue Reading]

Halloween on the Plains

“COME ON, FROST! YOU’RE TAKING FOREVER!” Rhino pounded on the front of the white and blue Liset, waiting for its owner to finally open the door and come out. Behind him were Ember and Volt, both being a little more patient than their heavily armoured friend. “I’m not coming!” “WHY NOT?” Rhino whined. “You said you WOULD! Don’t make Ember all upset! She got all dressed up for the Day of the Dead, why can’t you?” Ember shrugged and glanced at Volt. “I’m not sad.” She was wearing a bunch of bone and skeleton-related things, with a bone necklace around… [Continue Reading]
