Magic and Malpractice – Medic in Skyrim part 7

We’re off to trap a dragon! Somehow. Dragonsreach in Whiterun is now ours to use, after our somewhat successful negotiations from last time. I accidentally wake up the Jarl and tell him I’m ready. But before I set off, I dump my piles of bones and crap from the previous two adventures in my chest in Breezehome. I climb onto the giant balcony and shout Odahviing’s name. After a few seconds of silence, I hear dragon roars. The guard standing right on the edge of the balcony shouts “did you hear that?” before being grabbed by Odahviing and thrown into… [Continue Reading]

Neglect and Negotiations – Medic in Skyrim part 6

I’m still here in Skyrim, with an Elder Scroll and the blood of a dragon. It only took me an hour or so of walking to get this damn scroll (see last time round)  so let’s get on with this. From where I appear out in the wilderness, I find this place. Never known what it’s used for. I take a blessing of Talos and leave for the Throat of the World. I think. On my way there, I stumble across this jester, Cicero. Shrill voice aside, he needs help and the person in the mill nearby seems unwilling to… [Continue Reading]

The Hammer of Change draws closer…

Greetings citizens. I come to you with glum news. It seems as though the Riot Summoners have chosen me to be sacrificed to the Lords of Balance. The Hammer of Change is near, hovering above me dangerously, with a hideous squint in its bearer’s eyes. Yes, you heard me correctly, I am about to be nerfed into the ground. Or possibly not. You see, Riot has no idea what to do with one of the faces of League of Legends. As I stand, I am a glorious tank. I will soak up all the damage, spin around a bit, make… [Continue Reading]

Crossbows and Colleges – Medic in Skyrim part 5

Oh hello again! I’ve just got back from visiting Paarthunax. Nice guy. Taught me a shout. Then told me that I needed an Elder Scroll. I suppose the name of the series would appear at some point to bite me in the backside. I’ve been asking around. Everyone’s clueless. Someone suggests that I ask Esbern, but I’m on the Throat of the World, I’ll be damned if I’m walking back to their lame fortress to ask a question I’m certain no one knows the answer to. But the Greybeards suggest I go to the college of Winterhold. So I do… [Continue Reading]

League of Legends needs a Sandbox. But we’re not getting one.

On August 5th, Riot games announced that they won’t ever be making a sandbox mode in which you can test various aspects of League of Legends. Which is a very stupid thing to say. Much of the community, not to mention many of us Champions, are up in arms about it. A sandbox has been one of the most requested features that players have been asking for for years (after a replay feature, which is also not happening). But while we were given a somewhat suitable explanation as to why, their reasoning for not wanting to build a sandbox was insulting.… [Continue Reading]

Stealing and Syringes – Medic in Skyrim part 4

Tamriel is in peril again, and only one man can save it… Medic! Last time, we were ruining a party. Now, we’re back here again, battling dragons. And woo, I have seen a lot of dragons. Today alone I killed 5 of the bastards. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that, you Dovah are cool… Anyway, this time, I find this Esbern guy everyone’s bragging about. Time to head to the Ratway, because Brynjolf told me to. Apparently Esbern is down here somewhere… You know, if it wasn’t for the blood, this would be a really nice little place to sit… [Continue Reading]

Even more things TF2 doesn’t have and still needs

This is what, the third article now? Yes, I think so, I wrote this and this in the past, but it’s a subject worth discussing. Team Fortress 2 is a very old game now, it’s slowly leeching players to Valve’s new baby, Dota 2, and it’s still in need of a few things to keep up with the burst of class-based first person shooters suddenly appearing around here. The first thing is the biggie. Competitive matchmaking. We should have had it years ago. It’s been 8 years now and we still don’t have anything like this. Yes, there is a… [Continue Reading]

Potions and Partypoopers – Medic in Skyrim part 3

Oh hey, it’s been a while, but I finally fired up that dodgy teleporter to continue my travels in Tamriel! Last time I was here, I killed a dragon. Then Delphine decided to be useful for two seconds. Unfortunately, after killing that dragon, half my screenshots disappeared. Not that it really matters, because all I did in the meantime was go to Windhelm, which wasn’t very far off, get into a fight with some guy who bet 100 gold he could best me in a fight (spoiler: he couldn’t…) then headed back to Breezehome to dump my stuff. I also… [Continue Reading]

Plagued by Chromas

While all you Team Fortress mercenaries complain about the appearance of your so-called Decorated Weapons, which appear to come in a billion randomized styles based on weapon collection, weapon rarity, weapon pattern and weapon rare, with a smaller chance of being strange or unusual for two out of four collections, us champions have been plagued by something far, far worse. I am talking about Chroma Packs, the newest paid for feature to pester the League of Legends with its presence. The idea of a Chroma Pack is incredibly simple, especially compared to the Weapon Retexture Project that appears to be… [Continue Reading]

A Trip to Edge of Reality

Loadout is an amazing game that you should still totally go try out if you haven’t played it already. I’ve written about it twice before, and when I recently moved to Austin one of the secondary reasons was a desire to meet the developers. Edge of Reality is a company that has developed both original games and console ports since 1999, and as a huge fan of their self-published shooter I drove to Edge of Reality’s studio this Tuesday in the hopes of meeting them. I had obtained their address from Google: 6500 River Place Blvd. River Place is a… [Continue Reading]
