It’s tough being a Pyro. Not in the same way that it’s tough being a Spy in a competitive environment or being a lone Medic in a team full of Snipers, but in a more philosophical way. Poor Unloved TFC Pyro

So what if every weapon in Pyro’s arsenal is rubbish. So what if TFC afterburn deals 2 ticks of damage for 4 ticks, a grand total of EIGHT damage before extinguishing itself. So what if napalm grenades are the only explosive grenades in TFC with lower damage output than regular hand grenades. You know what the pyro has that nobody else has? Personality. The Family Business – The one weapon that SHOULD be multi-class!

The Family Business is nothing new. In fact, it’s one of those really annoying +stat/-stat weapons that most people despise and say it should be reworked and complain that it’s boring and stuff. But for someone like me, it’s great and I wish more people could use it. A quick reminder of the stats, the Family Business is your standard shotgun. TF2 What If? Det Jumper and Gunboats Demo

Evidently, making edits to the item text file in your TF2 folder allows one to play around with the stats of the various weapons.  Today, I experiment with two fairly commonly suggested/asked about weapons for Team Fortress, both specializing in mobility: A detonator jumper for pyro, and a gunboats-like grenade launcher replacement for the demoman. Jumpmaps have long provided a place for enthusiasts of advanced mobility to practice their skills.  Soaring gracefully on the blast of a rocket, being propelled upwards by stickybomb explosions – and, more recently, hopping about with the distinctive firework sound of the Detonator! So, about those Pyros…

Pyros are the bane of my existence. They’re the one thing that can screw up a perfectly good push, apart from another Ubercharge. They have a lot going for them yet are also considered the weakest class in the game, despite their ability to completely screw over multiple classes. So what about them? The issue with Pyro is simple. Pyros are bloody annoying. Ask someone to name some of the most annoying things to be killed by, and a Pyro-related death will almost certainly be on that list.
