What’s that? A new blog post?

Normally, most blog posts asking people to do things with or for Valve generally require a little know-how. Some elbow grease. A bit of effort. That sort of thing. Then again, generally, Valve like to ask us to make cosmetic items which they can sell and you get some profit from if you’re one of the select few who manage to get chosen and all that. Let’s just say, the chances are slim. But after today’s blog post, we’ve got something different. Merchandise. T-Shirts. Posters. Stuff like that. From the blog post, it seems that it’s just t-shirts and posters… [Continue Reading]

Howdy partner! Part one is that way! Otherwise, continue on the road to Madness.    #5. Sasha vs K9000 cyberdog gun What does a person look for in a weapon? Firepower? Good looks? Being fear inducing? Being financially viable? How about companionship? Yes, the wiseman knows that during the periods of time he isn’t killing foes, it can get lonely. Medic isn’t nearby, your companion is stuck in that doorway again, so who will listen to your terrible poetry? Well at least you have your gun… Now just take Occam’s razor to this situation and POW! A new friend who will… [Continue Reading]

TF2 weapons vs Fallout weapons Part 1: Guns that make holes in people

Team Fortress 2 and the Fallout series are both well known for having a dizzying selection of firepower to command, and while the choice can be overwhelming, there is a gun to suit all manners of tastes. Yet the universal truth is no two weapons are created equal. To answer the ultimate question of which game has the better quality of create-dead-people-emitters, I will examine 18 weapons from both the TF2 and Fallout universes. There will be 9 comparisons; 1 for each TF2 class. Some quick rules for fairness; All Fallout weapons will be assumed to be fully upgraded and… [Continue Reading]

The Solemn Spy

My very first article here was about the Solemn Vow, and now, over 100 articles later, I feel it’s time to revisit this glorious, semi-overpowered weapon. I’m feeling so sentimental about it that I’m even using the original photo from that article. In the original article, I spent most of my time going over the game play elements of it, how it allowed the user to make more informed decisions about whether to run away or not. Today, I want to talk about some different aspects of this weapon. The Solemn Vow to me has sentimental value. I managed to… [Continue Reading]

Hello everybody! You may or not have noticed that this blog now has a podcast associated with it. Said podcast is called the PhlogistiCast, or Phlog for short. The Ghetto International: A Preview of the I52 LAN Event.

There are less than three weeks until the largest LAN competition Team Fortress 2 has ever had, and likely will ever have. For the past three months the focus of almost every top-level team in the world has been to prepare for I52, the one and only competition where the egotistical patriots, baguette eaters, tea drinkers, kangaroos and the occasional moose can face off at a LAN event. Epsilon Esports, Awsomniacs, Froyotech, Classic Mixup, Team Immunity, Fenneks and a wealth of lesser known European teams are all heading to Coventry, United Kingdom for Team Fortress’s own international.   The History… [Continue Reading]

Legends of Equestria Open Server Weekend August 8-10

Hi all! Just thought I’d take a chance to let you know that a fanmade MMO I work for, Legends of Equestria, is having an Open Server Weekend right now, where you can play it and try it out! Set in the world of Equestria, you first get to make your own pony through an intensive character creation system, and then you’re free to explore five different expansive regions, including starter cities for the three main species. Go on quests, purchase and wear cosmetics, and even adopt pets! I’m one of the writers, and I’m really proud of all the… [Continue Reading]

The Changing and the End of Stuff

Hello, my fellow mercenaries! Today, I’m just going to mention a few bits and pieces. I love reading articles from you lot, and I love receiving them. Problem is, I can’t always tell if they’re finished and ready to be published or not. I have a bit of a weird organisation system, in which any articles that are 100% ready to publish, I leave in the Pending section and everything else gets thrown into Drafts. I generally have to edit most articles before they’re finished anyway, since a few of you forget to set your categories or don’t add any… [Continue Reading]

“I AM BULLETPROOF!!”

Misha the Heavy Weapons Guy gets a lot of bad press. Especially on this blog. I’ve seen articles trashing him and saying he’s failed as a class in TF2. They point out that, compared to classes like the Soldier, he has less weapons to choose from and few reliable ways to cover his main weakness, lack of speed. They say he’s boring to play and requires almost no skill. Poor Heavy has been hit hard by such critics. But slow down, all you Jarate-throwing Huntsman Snipers! No class in this game is a “failure.” The point of Team Fortress 2… [Continue Reading]
