Left 4 Dead 2 – The Sacrifice

Love and Hate 3 is themed around favorite and least-favorite maps, and even though I’m not eligible to win, I can’t resist an opportunity to talk about Left 4 Dead 2, especially since I can’t do TF2 because I’ve already written about my favorite and least favorite maps in the game. And while I’m going to need time to pick my least-favorite map in Left 4 Dead 2 (they’re all fun in their own way), my favorite is an easy pick. ‘The Sacrifice’ is so different from the other maps that it’s the only map I can replay immediately after a previous run… [Continue Reading]

Frontier

There is one map in TF2 that I really, really love, despite how everyone I ever play with immediately wants to switch over to play pl_upward. Seriously, what’s the deal with that bloody map, the last point on that thing always have like 10 Level 3 Sentries on it. Anyways, my most favourite map in TF2 is pl_frontier. When we talk about Frontier, we’ll have to talk about the map’s most recognizable feature, and also one of my most favourite things in TF2. Ladies and gentlemann, may I present to you … Lil’ Chew Chew. Lil’ Chew Chew is the… [Continue Reading]

A Week of Love and Hate 3 – A Place for Love

You know what I really, really, really hate? More than the billion shitty variations of maps like trade_minecraft and achievement_idle? When some part of my computer, this time my external hard drive, decides that it’s going to kill itself in some way and totally screw up an event I planned. But I’m not letting the potential death of my hard drive get me down, or get in the way of an event. Yep, here we are, on the third… Season? Series? Episode? Whatever… The third Week of Love and Hate. And while there aren’t that many entries, I can see… [Continue Reading]

Russian Rocketeer

It really sucks that Pyro, a class with tremendous close-range capabilities and otherwise pretty good for ambushing, doesn’t have any form of advance mobility except for Detonator/ Scorch Shot jumping, which is like rocket jumping with every bit of potential and most of its usefulness tossed away. This irks me a lot because it is my preferred way of playing Pyro, since weapon combos requires a bit too much dexterity for me and playing Pybro gets boring. To console myself, I got myself this: The Russian Rocketeer is a promotional cosmetic for the game Awesomenauts, based on the jetpack of Yuri the… [Continue Reading]

Stupid Sexy Skyrim

You’ve all seen them. The sexy Skyrim mods. The skimpy armour sets, the big-breasted character presets, the mods that make everyone nude and attractive, the hundreds upon thousands of sexy female succubus followers that also wear skimpy armour, are super overpowered and are also big-breasted and naked when they (or you) remove their clothes. Well, most people only see the skimpy armour and sexy followers on the Steam Workshop, but anyone who knows how to really mod knows that all the best mods are on the Skyrim section of Nexus Mods. Look deeper, and there’s even more sexy stuff. Mods… [Continue Reading]

Playing Dead Island with Siblings

“Medic, play games with us!” my siblings say. I don’t get asked to play games often. Most of the time, it’s to play some party game, like Gangbeasts, or perhaps the Jackbox Party Packs if there happens to be other people around. Occasionally, we’ll play something else, but it’s often brief, or filled with technical issues. Finally, we’ll properly set foot in a game, and maybe we’ll complete the whole thing. I completed Saints Row 3 for a second time with sister LilSkully and completed Borderlands 2 with brother Smeghead. Dead Island is one such game that the three of… [Continue Reading]

On Obtaining Chroma

Chroma is the dragon-like character in Warframe. He breathes fire, he has elemental powers, he’s big and bulky and dragon-like and he rips his skin off and turns it into a dragon minion that kills people. But holy fucking Bahrag is this motherfucker hard to fucking get. I kid you not. To build Chroma, you need five things. Firstly you need to complete a rather simple quest, the New Strange, in which you see a ‘feral Chroma’ attacking Corpus and Grineer and have to track it down. Cephalon Simaris, a self-proclaimed gatherer of knowledge, keeper of the (purely digital) Santuary… [Continue Reading]

The Return of zOMG!

The first MMO I ever played was a game called zOMG! which was available on Gaia Online. It was a game made in Flash, back in the days when it had just been taken over by Adobe. Those days, Flash was the big new thing and everyone loved it, you could do so much with it, until people realised that Flash and its media players were full of bugs and exploits, mostly thanks to its coding language, Actionscript. One such exploit was why zOMG! was originally shut down. Unceremoniously. Until it came back. You see, zOMG! was actually pretty popular.… [Continue Reading]

Payday 2 – Breaking the Stealth/Loud Dichotomy

Was Skyping with Medic the entirety of editing this video, and we were talking about hypothetical heist designs that wouldn’t fit easily into either the “stealth” or “loud” category. Payday has steadfastly maintained those two categories of heists for the entire six years of the franchise’s existence, but at this point there’s so much content in Payday 2 that I think they’ve got the resources and the options to branch out from either “hordes of cops filling the building in waves” or “sneak around and avoid the security guards and cameras.” My first idea for breaking the mold was a heist… [Continue Reading]

A Generic Trickster Warframe

So many games with multiple characters have one. A generic trickster character. Sometimes a good guy, most often an enemy. And most of the time they’re named Loki. Warframe is no exception to this unwritten rule of trickster characters. He doesn’t look like a trickster, and he’s not even the only trickster character around, but he’s definitely a slippery little monster. Loki was originally one of the choices in character you could have when you start Warframe, and funnily enough, he was replaced by Volt of all frames. Probably because Volt is much simpler as a character. Loki’s gameplay is… [Continue Reading]
