Scream Fortress is here!

Scream Fortress has arrived! And technically it’s brought a new stupid event with it! Valve have somewhat kept up with its promises and has announced a bunch of community stuff. Although once again they have completely and utterly failed to scare us to death. Like Gun Mettle but not at all like Invasion (which will be ending soon), they’ve gone ahead with the contract system, this time called the Scream Fortress Gargoyle. You know what? I could talk about Overwatch and it’s private beta (which seemed more like a press release than a beta…) but I’m honestly not fussed. I’m annoyed about other things. So over in PAYDAY 2, the developers of the game have gone and announced some rather surprising things, namely microtransactions. Overkill kept this all secret and let it all go as a giant day one surprise for Crimefest. It’s sparked outrage in the community, especially since Overkill originally said they’d never introduce microtransactions on multiple occasions. With Highlander Season 9 coming around, ETF2L has decided to allow a few new weapons – the Pomson 6000 and the Short Circuit. Now, many people think this is rather strange. Autobalance. It’s something we all hate. Some more than others. Often not as much as we hate random crits. But still, it’s a fucking bastard. Crimefest burns on…

Welp, Crimefest, the yearly big, free, 10-day update for Payday 2, is trundling along, and still on fire. Considering all the grinding that’s gone on, the first four days of Crimefest have pretty much crashed and burned. While Day 2 brought in a bunch of masks and Day 1 brought in crates and cosmetics that affect gameplay, things have quickly gone rather quiet on the Payday front. The Team Fortress Classic mercenaries have long been thought dead, despite the fact that Team Fortress Classic itself is still playable (as is Fortress Forever, but that’s a whole separate thing!) and all that, with a tight knit community that will kick newbies’ asses from here to kingdom come. It’s the start of the new UGC competitive season, and we’ve seen some new weapons come and go. The most prominent weapon though is the Loose Cannon, which has now been banned in Highlander and 4v4, but not in 6v6 in UGC. This is incredibly strange, especially since ETF2L has gone the other way in Highlander, allowing both the Pomson and the Short Circuit.
