Medic plays Dota 2

I’m not a big fan of MOBAs, but Dota 2 was the first one I ever played, before I played League of Legends. I didn’t understand anything. At all. I’m pretty certain I spent the entire tutorial having no clue what was going on, back when the tutorial consisted of Dragon Knight wandering round a very non-Dota-2-esque map, completing quests and spending a long time repeating tasks because I couldn’t get the concept of couriers and last-hits. Eventually, I gave up, unable to get my head around anything. League of Legends started on similar rocky territory, but their tutorial back… [Continue Reading]

Little tiny changes!

Something magical has happened. As I was eating my awesome home-made vegetable soup the other day, I noticed something unusual. I suddenly had more power. I could change things I could not change before. Lots of magical, wonderful things. So I got to work and made a few… changes around here. First off, our wonderful sticky bomb favicon is back. Fuck yeah! Aaby missed the poor thing, and it’s technically our logo. Hence why it’s all over our social media pages. Then I went and made sure we had a proper mobile site. That’s currently not working very well, so… [Continue Reading]

Off to a bad start

Normally I’d put something cheerful here. When the new year came along, I said that 2016 would be way better than 2015. 2015 was a shit year that has left me on the not particularly nice path that I’m currently on. It’s made me pretty depressed, and you can tell from the way I post and how I go off on one that I’m not the same person I was last year. Yes, I could be talking about some TF2 stuff, but I’m the editor of this blog, so I write what I want. 2016 was supposed to be better.… [Continue Reading]

Heavy Sorrow

It was a quiet Sunday. The enemy had been bloodied and beaten over the past few days, having finally given up the ghost on Friday. With BLU gone, the dusty Egyptian lakeside ruins were incredibly quiet. Despite the dusty terrain, the air was incredibly cold and crisp. Still, it was pleasant enough to annoy other mercenaries. Scout quickly realised that he’d crossed the line as Heavy lunged at him. “I didn’t mean, it, man! Come on, it’s just a gag!” The Bostonian dodged and weaved around the giant, before ducking away to safety. Heavy gave up and went back to… [Continue Reading]

Tips for Saints Row: The Third

I rarely manage to actually complete games, and I never manage to get 100% completion, but Saints Row: The Third is the closest I’ve got, with a whooping 93% completion. I’ve got all the achievements in Skyrim, but you can’t actually get 100% completion in that game, so there. While I wait for the damn game to load after making the mistake of verifying the integrity of the game cache, here’s a bunch of tips for you. Never use cheats. Cheats have a nasty habit of infecting saves. You use cheats once, that’s it, that save is ruined. Play on… [Continue Reading]

Rest in Peace, Dominion

Just like Team Fortress 2 and Arena mode, League of Legends has a game mode with a hardcore but very small following. Dominion was basically a cross between Robot Destruction and 5CP, but done in a MOBA-esque sort of way. I’m pretty sure Dota 2 has a similar game mode but I don’t know what it’s called. Either way, it is a simple, fun little game mode with more focus on killing the enemy and capturing control points, rather than farming minions and moving towards the enemy nexus. Dominion also had the bonus of being a much faster game mode,… [Continue Reading]

A Quick Glance at the Borderlands

Recently, I’ve started replaying Borderlands 2. I played the original a looong time ago, liked it a lot, but found it incredibly hard. I was also kinda screwed by a weak computer that ended with me never actually being able to leave the Arid Badlands and enter the next area – every time I did, the game would freeze then crash. Still, I liked the darker humor and Skags are pretty cool creatures. Before I continue, there’s spoilers ahead. Just so you know. Borderlands 2 is supposed to be a sequel but there’s something off about it. On the plus… [Continue Reading]

Celebrating 1000 articles with the Daily SPUF!

Wow. Just wow. 1000 articles. The big one zero zero zero. One. Thousand. Articles. All over 250 words. An article, sometimes two, every day since the 18th of August, 2013. It’s now 2016. Our very first article was complaining about the Half Zatoichi, which is a fair point. But while the weapons of Team Fortress 2, the classes of Team Fortress 2, even core mechanics, have changed since then, we’re still publishing an article every single day. Okay we’ve probably missed a day, but only because of extreme circumstances. No, really, we’ve only missed one day. September 19th, 2013. And… [Continue Reading]

Dawnguard Snipin’ – Part 7

Well, my fellow mercs, I didn’t think we’d get this far. Last time round, I fought a vampire to get a shiny bow. Serana complained it wasn’t very shiny, but she’s a whinging brat. Anyway, my legs are knackered. I had to stop by in Medic’s place and dump all the loot I had stol- um, liberated from that snow elf church, and Serana and I are back at Fort Dawnguard to rally the troops and all that crap. It’s a pretty big place. Like Demo’s place but way nicer. Sorry Tavish. Isran, the guy who hired me, is standing… [Continue Reading]

Optimizing Your Panda Express Strategy

Everybody has a vice, and mine is Panda Express. Their orange chicken is impossibly delicious and definitely my favorite food on this planet. Thank god I move so often and never seem to be anywhere near one, otherwise I’d be eating there all the time. The Panda Express at my old college campus was a place of many memories for me. It was where I first met my future wife in a study group for Dinosaurs class. I was its mayor on FourSquare before FourSquare revamped its mayorship system and made it stupid and pointless. I was there for all… [Continue Reading]
