A Moment of Silence for Quake’s Ogre Marksman

I recently wrote an article about a cut weapon from Doom. Today I want to dedicate a similar eulogy for a similarly-redacted element from Doom‘s sequel series, Quake. But first, we need to talk about Ogres. What is an Ogre? Ogres are the most frequently-appearing of the many enemies in Quake. Wielding chainsaws and a grenade launcher, they don’t seem to have much in common with the sort of medieval tropes you’d expect to see. But nevertheless they set the benchmark for enemy damage. The 5 enemies that deal more then the ogre are considered “upper-tier” and a high-priority. While the 7… [Continue Reading]

IKEAFrame in your Ship is a whole different can of worms…

I’ve chatted about IKEAFrame before, but mostly for clan dojos. IKEAFrame is a silly name for all the decorating you can do in your private spaces in Warframe. Clan dojos offer vast amounts of space which you can freely decorate. And by decorate, that means painstakingly placing every single item, one at a time. But then you have to painstakingly fund every single item you place. It can take a long time, but, ideally, dojo decorating only costs time. Everything needs to be paid for using in-game resources. But since you are collecting these over time, the grind isn’t too… [Continue Reading]

The Slowly Increasing Need for More Backpack Space

Right now, I have enough space to hold 1450 Pokemon on my level 42 Pokemon GO account. Also right now, I am using 1430 of those 1450 slots. There’s probably an event coming up, so I’ll need to clear some space. I need to start transferring Pokemon, so I can catch more of them. After all, I can’t keep every Pokemon, right? Well, I’ll try… I don’t like deleting things. I’m a weirdly sentimental person. Even when I am running out of space, I don’t like deleting things or throwing things away. The thought is always “what if this turns… [Continue Reading]

A Four-Legged Saryn

Lately, I’ve been bringing a new companion to missions. The good little boy/girl happily follows me around as I blow things up. And, despite all the carnage around me, it rarely dies and instantly revives itself. I’m of course talking about Vulaphylas. You know, the hideous fox-like cat-like companions from Deimos. But one particular breed of Vulpaphyla does way more work than the others. Let’s talk about our friend the Panzer Vulpaphyla. Panzer Vulpaphyla are the uncommon breed of mutated Kavat out on Deimos. But when it comes to usage, they are by far the most common. This is mostly… [Continue Reading]

A Moment of Silence for Doom’s Assault Rifle

Team Fortress 2 isn’t the only game that gave assault rifles the boot. The original Doom has one of the most iconic FPS rosters in history, but is surprisingly lacking the most famous generalist weapon of all time. Yet did you know it wasn’t always that way? Today I wanted to spend an article discussing the sordid history of the unluckiest weapon in the world’s most famous shooter. The Early Alpha Doom‘s assault rifle was there from the beginning, the very first and only weapon available in the early alphas released to the public (once the Wolfenstein 3D sprites were… [Continue Reading]

5 Basically Nude Warframes Who Look Like People In Latex Suits

There are a large number of different body types in Warframe. From the lithe Octavia to the chunky Grendel, there’s something for everyone. But some Warframes are much more… nude than others. They are not much more than human-shaped suits with fancy helmets. And, with the right colors, these frames can look awfully sexy. To the point that they’re basically just people in latex suits. Shall we have a look at some of these… more scandalous frames? Of course we will! Wisp Honestly, Wisp is more “completely nude barbie doll” than “sexy person in latex suit”. Her whole body is… [Continue Reading]

Quake: Does it Hold Up?

In keeping with the spirit that inspired me to play the original Doom and Doom II to fill the pre-Team Fortress Classic hole in my repertoire, I would be remiss to not also try id Software’s other magnum opus. Their followup game that nevertheless managed to redefine the shooter genre again and take the gaming industry by storm. I don’t know how they managed to do it twice, but the original Quake is a fantastic experience. If you haven’t played it, you really need to go see what all the fuss was about. Now I must confess that I didn’t… [Continue Reading]

Fletchling Community Day

What’s that? A community day? Already? These seem to come more and more quickly, I swear. March’s 2021 Community Day is actually kinda special. Why? Because it’s the first March Community Day since 2019, as 2020’s March Community Day was skipped. And, to celebrate, we’re getting Fletchling, the tiny, fiery sparrow thing! A Pokemon that evolves into a fan favourite, Talonflame. New shiny! Yes, we’re actually getting a brand new shiny. And one that ISN’T a Kanto Pokemon! Fletchling can now be shiny, and if you evolved it during the Community Day event, Talonflame would learn the fast move Incinerate.… [Continue Reading]

Sending and Receiving Gifts is Such A Pain

I’m going to be blunt here. I’ve always been bad at receiving gifts. While I can make and send pretty nice presents, my ability to receive a gift is kinda crap. And, for some reason, this trait has followed me into Pokemon GO. A place where gifts are a pretty large part of the game. But, for some reason, even for normal people, receiving gifts in Pokemon GO is a massive pain. And so is sending gifts. So. Much. Tapping. Sending and receiving gifts takes ages. Just like everything else in Pokemon GO, you need to tap through various animations.… [Continue Reading]

7 Things I Miss From Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 is definitely one of my favorite games of all time, at least in the top 3. It’s the perfect mix of mobility, environmental destruction, and cheesy B-grade voice-acting. It makes you feel like you’re starring in a very explosive action movie. I have hundreds of hours in the single-player and multiplayer modes combined. I keep finding myself coming back despite having less and less available to do in my save file. So finally, during the last Steam Winter sale, I finally bought the complete Just Cause 3 collection for only $4 so I could see where the… [Continue Reading]
