Rhyhorn Community Day – Not Enough Rhyhorns

Rhyhorn is low-key one of my favourite Pokemon. This is the Pokemon I voted for back in the “Community Day Voting Event” thingy back at the beginning of the year, after searching Pokestops for the task. When we were presented with the four choices – Rhyhorn, Machop, Vulpix or Dratini, Rhyhorn won by quite a lot. And on February 22nd 2020, Rhyhorn finally got a Community Day. Now, Rhyhorn is a great Pokemon. Absolutely awesome. Sure, the Rhyhorn family is weak to Grass and Water, but it’s a strong, tanky Pokemon with a good combination of damage and bulk. Buddy System? What Buddy System?

Hey, do you remember that buddy system in Pokemon Go? The buddy system where your Pokemon will help you do things and bring you gifts and things like that? Remember how fun and immersive it was? Recall how I thoroughly enjoyed it? I even have a Giratina, an Altered Forme version called Orokin Chonk. Who I eventually became Ultra and later Best Buddies with. Well, I forgot about the buddy system. Actually, that’s not true at all. I didn’t forget about the buddy system but I did stop writing about it. I am however going to write about it again.… [Continue Reading]

The Quantum Instability of Team Rocket Go Leaders

A few days ago, I decided to do a little bit of late night walking to clear my mind and to catch some Luvdics, because I had a research task that required me to catch them. I did a lot of walking, to the point that I ended up running into a guy who was trying to do a Team Rocket Go Leader. Cliff was being a massive pain in the ass, doing to us with his Pinsir what Arlo did to us with his Scyther and Scizor. Unfortunately, it was very late, to the point that the Team Rocket… [Continue Reading]

The 5 best Team Rocket counters in Pokemon GO

We’ve discussed good gym defenders, good gym attackers, good legacy moves, and good Community Day Pokemon in Pokemon GO. (And Metagross appeared on every list!) But nowadays, there’s a whole new element to the PvE experience: fighting Rockets! Yes, those dastardly Rockets are everywhere nowadays, taking over our Pokestops and challenging well-to-do trainers at the drop of a hat. Team Rocket Leaders up the ante, bringing a full set of shields and some seriously dangerous Pokemon with them, and things boil to a head with Giovanni and his shadow legendary birds. The combat system for fighting rockets is so different… [Continue Reading]

7km Eggs in Pokemon Go are Just Bad

There’s been a lot of events that have featured 7km eggs in Pokemon Go. From the event that made all 7km eggs only need to be walked 2km to be hatched, to the World Tourist Day event that put regional Kanto Pokemon in 7km eggs, to the recent Sinnoh event that briefly put Gible in 7km eggs, these bastard unhatched Pokemoon shell things are pretty vital to a lot of Pokemon Go activities. 7km eggs are also unique in the way you acquire them – they can only be obtained by opening gifts sent by other players, and any egg… [Continue Reading]

So Many Costumed Pokemon

February 2020 is absolutely jam-packed with events for some reason, with everything from a Pokemon Day on 27th February to the return of Armoured Mewtwo, Tornadus coming to raids and the entire month starting with a new research Pokemon with a heart on its nose and a research day for Minccino. In fact, there’s a lot of content in general, but at the same time… there are a lot of Pokemon in costumes to deal with. Actually, there are a lot of costumed Pokemon coming out lately… On the surface, this doesn’t sound like a great thing. We’re only slowly… [Continue Reading]

Poor Little Sinnoh Event

There’s currently an event in Pokemon Go right now, a three day event featuring Pokemon from the Sinnoh region, i.e. generation 4. But it’s a very small event, somewhat slipped in over a weekend, in the middle of a month that’s absolutely packed with a huge number of rather random events, everything from votes for a Community Day, a World Pokemon Day event and random mystery events as well, not to mention your standard Valentines Day event because of course there has to be a Valentines Day event. So this Sinnoh event is a thing and it’s… kinda small and… [Continue Reading]

Minccino Community Research Day!

I’m never sure what these events are actually called. Pokemon Go itself calls these events “Limited Research Events” but that makes them seem not exciting at all. But calling it a “Community Day” makes little sense as well. I like to compromise and call it a Community Research Day. Rather than have a bunch of Pokemon spawn in the wild for you to scoop up in the hundreds, during these events, the Pokemon in question that has a chance to be shiny can only be acquired by completing research tasks in a small 3 hour window, a bit like a… [Continue Reading]

Latias Is Still A Bitch

Back in February 2019, I wrote an article saying how Latias is a little bitch of a Pokemon that was a pain in the ass in a few different ways. That was a little under a year ago, and there’s been a few changes in that time. But is Latias still a bitch? Yes. Yes she is. Just like last time the weird airplane dragon Pokemon appeared in raids, Latias popped out of nowhere, in the middle of an event and directly after an event with Ho-Oh and Lugia. The main difference this time is that Latias’s partner in crime,… [Continue Reading]
