A Particularly Muffin-Filled Story

You may want to read this first.   “Hm…” Nuhvok-Kal shouldn’t have been awake. But he couldn’t sleep. Not when there was that feeling in his body. Since he’d arrived in this messed up, backwards world, he’d get this feeling occasionally. He didn’t like the feeling. Luckily, it was easy to get rid of. He just needed some form of sweetness. Normally, he’d have the sweetness made for him. But it was dark. No one else was awake. He needed to do this himself. The first thing Nuhvok did was sneak down stairs. Everyone else was asleep, but not everyone… [Continue Reading]

The pan is mightier than the sword

Whoever decided to add a Frying Pan as a weapon in video games was the greatest genius who ever lived. Forget that Newton guy, who supposedly discovered calculus and invented gravity. Forget Einstein, who supposedly completely re-jigged gravity and its connection with time. The individual behind the Frying Pan shall rise far beyond these men and be forever remembered by the famous spam-quote: “Stout shako for two refined!” That’s right, I’m here to talk about the Demopan this time. I’d call him a perfect mascot for the game. He’s utterly ridiculous in every way, but somehow so effective and hilarious… [Continue Reading]

TF2 Saxxy Awards Winners and TF2 Update 01/10/14

Welp, the winners have been announced! And I was mostly completely wrong. The only one that I guessed would win and got right was that TF2 in 60 seconds one. Anyway, the winners are: Best Short: Team Fortress 2 in 60 seconds Best Drama: Defect_ Best Comedy: About a Scout Best Action: Rivalry Rush Best Overall: Animation VS Animator! A very interesting pick from Valve. I think everyone knew that TF2 in 60 seconds was going to win and Defect_’s chances were really, really high. But I am genuinely surprised that Animation VS Animator was chosen to be the best overall.… [Continue Reading]

2014 Saxxy Awards

Welp, time for the final four for each category to come in, while Valve try to decide which one is the best and make amusing blog posts about it all. This year though, I am impressed. The entirety of the Action and Comedy sections were ALL ones I votes for (although Tidehunter’s Tactics had a needlessly long blank screen at the end). Very impressive. The Shorts were all very good as well. Surprised that the silly one-day-before-entering thing got nominated, but that’s what the people’s votes do. Drama wasn’t as bad as last year, thankfully with only one soppy FemScout,… [Continue Reading]

Rest in Peace, Hello! thread

On September 29th 2014, the Hello! thread, originally created in the Team Fortress Classic forum, was brutally murdered, after a traumatic last two days. What’s the Hello! thread, you ask? Well, it started off as a joke when TF2 Comics #3: A Cold Day in Hell, was released. Being called the Medic, I realised that I had indeed betrayed my mercenaries and took shelter in the Team Fortress Classic forum. This silly thread slowly turned into first a TF2 discussion thread and then into an itsurblog thread. But the Hello! thread was a nice thread. The pace was slow. The… [Continue Reading]

Four Things You Can’t Do With the Syringe Gun

Recently I wrote an article on Four Things You Can’t do With The Crusader’s Crossbow, because the crossbow is amazing and complicated and lends itself well to causing exploits and that sort of thing. But the design of the Syringe Gun is no slouch in that regard either. Face it; we Medics have a pretty complicated and unique primary with those rapid-fire hitscan projectiles, and that’s caused some trouble for Valve in the past. Here are some things that have been deemed Too Awesome for the poor syringe gun: 1. You can’t boost teammates on a sea of needles. The most… [Continue Reading]

A Particularly Cake-Filled Story

The smell of sweet, freshly cooked sponge cake was insulting his nostrils. It wasn’t fair. He wanted cake. And he wanted it now. Nuhvok-Kal didn’t understand much these days. It felt like years since he had fought the Toa Nuva and been sucked into a black hole created by his own, out-of-control powers. He had no idea what had happened to his siblings. He didn’t even know if the nest or the Bahrag or anything still existed. He could have been completely alone. Except he wasn’t. The smell was taunting him through the gaps of the old, rusty ‘oven’. Not… [Continue Reading]

How to write for The Daily SPUF

In most cases I start my articles with an anecdote. Anecdotes are little stories from one’s past experience that they share to reinforce the main point of an article. For instance, if I were writing about heartbreak and food, I’d share the story of the time I was burned by a PopTart. Hot Fudge Sundae variety, if I remember right. This time I’d like to start by saying thank you to a very special person. You know her as Medic, the Almighty Editor of The Daily SPUF. She’s written just over 150 articles for this blog in her time. Lately she’s… [Continue Reading]

Team Fortress 2 update, 25/09/14

I’ll be honest, I’m really impressed with the constant updates lately. The content of the updates is always hit and miss, no matter how regular they are, but the speed of these TF2 updates compared to what we’ve had most of this year. Big content updates though, we’re skill kinda lacking. But at least we’ve got keys now for the limited summer crates. First things first, here’s the actual update notes: An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include: Added Limited Late Summer… [Continue Reading]

Fourth Annual Saxxies and Arena:Respawn

Oh hey, the Saxxies are here again! Let me blow my trumpet of joy, throw my confetti of happiness and drink my bottle of sarcasm! Yeah, the Fourth Annual Saxxies are here, the contest with the worst drama category since, well, anything with a drama category, complete with a bunch of prizes that no one ever sees and a winner for one category that everyone will hate, probably with some winners being the same as last year. Alright, I’m just saying that because I’m in a bad mood, but the Saxxies are no longer about killing people and playing TF2, it’s… [Continue Reading]
