If you could add a weapon of your own design into TF2, what would it be?

The Clear Shot Level 5 Grenade Launcher On hit: +20 health -25% clip size aabicus: As someone who loves the Grenade Launcher but wishes he had more survivability, this very simple setup (that should remind you of a current TF2 weapon) has been my favorite stat concept I’ve come up with. We’re going with Clear Shot for its name only because my suggestion was a little rude. In my opinion, it holds an attraction for all brands of Demoman. Sticky Launcher demos can use it to regain health if they get the opportunity, demoknights and Sticky Jumper demos have to… [Continue Reading]

The Non-Soldier Trolldier

"Ya shouldn'ta crossed me, lad!"
“Ya shouldn’ta crossed me, lad!”

Did you know that Demoman has a neat axe melee weapon?  No, not the Halloween one.  It’s great and all, but I’m talking about a different one.  You know, that one that’s under that pile of dust in the corner of your backpack, next to that Sun-on-a-Stick.  Yeah, the Scotsman’s Skullcutter, and I’m here to show you one of the best ways to actually use this weapon: pair it with the sticky jumper.

January 15th – January 22nd

This week is a week late, but that’s not a bad thing because this week in TF2 history was actually rather dull. The earliest patch is in 2008, on Jan 15th, which fixed two bugs where the Medi Gun would continue to appear on switching class, and people zooming in too quickly as Sniper. 2009 had no updates at all in this period, neither did 2010, but on the 19th of Jan 2011, we saw a small bug fix update and the addition of a plate when one throws the Buffalo Steak Sandvich. 2012 was equally dull, only adding the… [Continue Reading]

A Change To Quickplay

The Average Valve Server
The Average Valve Server

So, in the Team Fortress 2 update on the 23rd of January, something changed. Quickplay changed. Other stuff changed too, of course, because that’s what happens in updates. But this Quickplay change was important. It goes to show that Valve might actually be listening. I’m talking about the Official Servers checkbox. And other stuff.

Underappreciated Cosmetic Items with Surprising Synergy

Ever since the dawn of Mann, men have been wearing hats. In fact, it’s because the social norm to be wearing hats. Trust me, brother, you don’t want to be a man without a hat. Would you believe me if I told you that there were over 1,000 cosmetic options for your character to wear (even if most of them are competitive badges)? That is a lot of items. Would you also believe me if I told you that more than half of these items won’t look good with any other item that you wear? Fact of the matter is, committing your character… [Continue Reading]

Medic weapons that would never work.

"Of course a mixture of Megaheal and Kritz will be over-powered!"
“Of course a mixture of Megaheal and Kritz will be over-powered!”

For as long as I’ve been a Medic, I’ve always been amused by the lack of weapons that we’ve received. Normally, this would be a reason to be angry, but it makes us creative. It makes us think up our own weapons. Unfortunately, this leads to a lot of crazy ideas, many of which would never work, some because they are just too complicated, others are just too stupid. But the majority just have a few flaws.

Today, we’ll be chatting with resident SPUFer Davjo, currently on his second account after screaming at German people. He’s been popping up on SPUF for ages and is fairly obsessed with Scouts and map stamps. In fact, Davjo is one of the few people to have worn one of the most prestigious hats around, the Philateler.

A New Year

Well, it’s been much too long since I last posted here about competitive, but here we are, with too much happening while I was away. Thus, let’s go over the finer points of what exactly happened. Of course, we can’t forget the biggest event of competitive (well, at least in North America and 6v6) – the ESEA Invite LAN! Four teams traveled to Dallas, Texas to compete for the serious money on the line: WELOVEANIME, lost in translation, Classic Mixup, and iT. From the beginning, the fight was expected to be mainly between iT and Classic Mixup. iT, the team… [Continue Reading]
