Giant Snipers

Hello there, this is Dr. Odoroki talking to all of you. I am here to give you the lowdown on how my army of robots are built and ordered. Not that it’ll mean anything to you. Ahahahaha! So if you haven’t seen Reima’s video on my missions, I suggest you see it now right here. Medic’s blog post also works, over here. It’s the closest thing to a summary that is at current. You can see how some of these robots strike fear, and especially one player’s frustrated comment on that robot. One thing that irked me was how the… [Continue Reading]

900th Post Raffle Winners

Hiya everyone! Just popping by after today’s article to inform you of the winners of the raffle from our 900th post. I’ll be honest, I’m quite disappointed in the very low turn out. Thankfully SPUFers have the decency to see free stuff and enter. Redditers don’t seem to care unless it’s some sort of gimmick or video or something. Written articles rarely do well on r/tf2/ unless there’s pictures or real life stuff to go with it. I’ve written down all the names of everyone who entered. We only had 5 entries on Reddit, so there’s no point having 3… [Continue Reading]

The Benefits of Sharking

Sharking is an old but solid technique that shows up a lot in Valve games. Anyone can do it, and it can really give you a legup in some unprofitable situations. Originating from the original GoldSrc engine and surviving even to today, ‘sharking’ involves keeping the jump button (probably space bar) held down while landing in or entering deep water. The character will ‘surf’ along the top of the water maintaining their momentum, instead of sinking and blimping along underwater. Great for avoiding the dreaded slowdown of swimming. As an avid sticky-jumper I love sharking, its one of my favorite mechanics… [Continue Reading]

Saucy Source Stuff

Not much happens on SPUF, but occasionally someone will pop up with an idea or product or some other project they want to flog. I’ve always been happy to promote these things because I’m not a very good business person, but also because some of these things are occasionally really good. Yes, I know, it’s stupid to advertise the competition, but sometimes you come across something cool and you feel you need to share it. I don’t know how many of you remember Witchyyyy. They’ve done some very nice SFM stuff for us over the last year or so. She’s… [Continue Reading]

Dawnguard Snipin’ – Part 2

Ah, you’re all back. Thought I’d lost you all back there. Well, after some fun with Merasmus, I’m in Skyrim. This vampire thing called Lord Harkon just gave me a choice to become a giant monster and work for him, or go home. Look how demanding this wanka is. Look at him. Wanka. I don’t think I want to work for him, so he…  Wow, that bloody fruitshop owner just kicked me out of his damn castle. Not even a bloody reward. Ya hear that, kids? Don’t trust those vampires. Cheap bastards. So I’m going to have to walk all… [Continue Reading]

Competitive Matchmaking Beta is here! Kinda…

Well well well well, looks like those Teamfortress.tvers have found something interesting. It’s a small version of the Competitive Matchmaking Beta! It’s actually a real thing! Turns out a small update yesterday added a console command that enables you to open the Competitive matchmaking menu. The command, for whoever wants to try it, is OpenMatchmakingLobby ladder Typing this into console brings up a new page. It looks like this: Interestingly, it had a bunch of scores, and a drop down box. The box has a choice of either 6v6 or 9v9, which is unusual since everyone thought they’d just do… [Continue Reading]

Obtaining Medic Achievements

So, after aabicus’s article about writing about something randomly chosen by the TF2 wiki, I’m going to do the same thing, minus the snazzy gif that aabicus used. Because I’m lazy and can’t be bothered to install anything that will record my screen for like three seconds. Unlike everyone else, I can access the TF2 wiki by typing !tf2 into my search bar, alongside any term I want. Pretty damn useful. Anyway, today’s randomly chosen subject is “obtaining Medic achievements” in Russian. That’s a good thing, because I’ve wanted to talk about achievements for a while. Fun fact, the only… [Continue Reading]

900 Articles of Spufiness – Giveaway

Today is quite a milestone. Yes, we have had milestones for every hundredth article we’ve posted here, but come on! This is the 900th article! That’s surely impressive, don’t you think? The Daily SPUF has kept its promise of being daily and has posted an article every single day for the last 900 days. aabicus and I have made sure of it. In order to celebrate such a vast number of posts, we’re doing a giveaway. It’s only a small one, but I like to think it’s a nice way of saying thanks. Two lucky winners, one from SPUF and… [Continue Reading]

Talk about Luck – Unusual Thoughts yet again

It’s been a while since we last chatted about unusuals. Every time I do so, I end up complaining that my siblings have stupid amounts of luck while I end up earning my way up the TF2 property ladder. I did this the most in the first one, I think, but I did it the same in parts 2 and 3 as well.Well today’s going to be exactly the damn same! Not really. Alright, on Monday, my brother Terroxy says “I’m going to buy some keys!” so he goes and buys 5 keys. He’s a bit of a trader, so… [Continue Reading]

Arena Mode needs urgent fixing

Bundled up with the Invasion update was something almost miraculous. For the first time in goodness how long, Valve added a new Arena map to our already-bulging map list. This is highly unusual because normally maps for unplayed game modes never get added. We generally only see KOTH, Payload or Control Points of some sort, or someone brings out something completely new that gets abandoned soon after. Arena was considered one of those things, but here we are, with a brand spanking new Arena map – Byre. But unfortunately, despite the niceness and simplicity of the map, people are soon… [Continue Reading]
