A distinct lack of hue and blog posts

With blogs, it’s important to keep them up to date with new content. That’s a very hard job to do, because most things change all the time. Even immobile things like rocks and Brass Beast Heavies change. At best, a blog ought to have content posted regularly, even if it doesn’t go back and fix things that may have changed and stuff like that. Most blogs have multiple people working on them, delivering content on a semi regular basis. At the SPUF blog, TheSupremeCommander hosts the blog, Aabicus and myself maintain the site in general, iGamr announces new posts and… [Continue Reading]

Sniper Versus Machine: The Post Dualcity

Valve have recently rolled out an awesome MvM update – Two Cities. For most part it’s great – Medic and Soldier buffs, killstreak weapons (that don’t look too good in most occasions but some are really awesome), Rottenburg. On the downside there is Empire Escalation Wave 4. But that’s later. Since it’s a blog, it’s kinda logical for someone to get their opinion here, or maybe a story, if they have anything to share, so I’ll do exactly this thing.

November 24th-November 30th

This was a busy week in Team Fortress history! Back in 2007, Valve fixed a very annoying bug with the demo system where it would get all jittery when you played it back. In 2011, they fixed a problem with allclass hats where they wouldn’t appear until you touched a resupply cabinet. November 30th, 2012 saw the release of the Track Terrorizer, War Pig, Pyrotechnic Tote, Bearded Bombardier, Soviet Gentleman, Pocket Purrer, Medi-Mask, Koala Compact and Hat of Cards, the latter of which is one of my favorite Spy hats. 2012 was also the conclusion of the Saxxy Awards, meaning… [Continue Reading]

SPUF Goes to Hawaii

Recently I learned, to my astonishment, that the other people on SPUF actually consist of more than usernames and bodiless personalities. On October 7th my newlywed wife and I departed on a honeymoon cruise to Hawaii, and on the 16th visited the district of Kona. There, I met up with SPUF’s spy master and Stormy Storm Team Captain-rocker Captain Blades! The Captain gave us a private tour of the island, which was awesome because we hadn’t the forethought to sign up for any of the guided tours. We couldn’t visit any of the national parks because the American Government was… [Continue Reading]

Five Things I Miss From Team Fortress Classic

I loved Team Fortress Classic. While I won’t argue it was more balanced than TF2, or even better then TF2, since I consider the two so different as to be incomparable, I loved it for what it was. It was Team Fortress boiled down to its core: Two teams of dudes shooting each other and working together to fill their teammate’s inherent weaknesses. No cartoony graphics, no multinational band of misfits, just nails and bullets and grenades. And there are some things I really miss from it, things that make me turn the game on and play on bot-choked 2fort/dustbowl… [Continue Reading]

Gunslingers Vs Highlanders! Season 3 Results

In previous Seasons, (Season 1 Season 2) the Gunslingers and Highlanders  have duked it out in an all-out war against which side would win. In Season 1, Highlanders won. In Season 2, Gunslingers won. Season 3 would be the tiebreaker as to which side would pull ahead over the other teams. However, there’s a twist this Season. On July 10th, the Gunslinger was nerfed! It no longer regens while it builds! Can this cost the Gunslingers a win? Let’s see the results then!

SPUF vs. Discussions results!

Two weeks ago we announced SPUF vs. Discussions II: Requiem, where the two Valve TF2 forums pit each other in a 3-map highlander match to determine who was better. The results are in: SPUF won the first round of koth_badlands, but Discussions rallied and won the next two, taking badlands. After that Discussions won cp_granary twice in a row. As that’s two maps out of three to SPUD, they win the tournament. Thanks for joining in everybody! We’re not sure what the next SPUF event is going to be, but stay tuned, there are more coming your way!

Demoknights vs. Demomen: The Results

As I posted recently, SPUF had a “Demoknights vs. Demomen” event, where we pit 9 demomen against 9 demoknights in three different gamemodes to see who wins. The result; resounding Demoknight victory, just like last time. pl_badwater: Demoknights capped in 6:20, then held off demomen from second point to the end. cp_yukon: Demoknights won 3 times in a row arena_lumberyard: Demoknights win 3 times in a row. Then the demomen team up and work together and defeat the demoknights in a flawless victory, while James Horner music plays in the background and the corpse of Walt Disney sheds a single… [Continue Reading]
