Why the Razorback is one of the best Sniper secondaries

Spufblog: Hey everybody! Today we’re going to be interviewing Maxillaws, one of SPUF’s most prolific posters and a sniper main. He’s going to be playing Sniper for the SPUF team in the recently announced “SPUF vs. Discussions II: Requiem.” Today’s topic of conversation: The Razorback. Widely derided as a joke secondary and one of the worst weapons Valve ever added to Team Fortress 2. But Maxillaws disagrees. Why is that?

How to win Balloon Race

A while ago, I made a blog post about a popular derp map cp_orange_x3. I laid out a specific loadout that makes it quite easy to win.

Well, here’s another one! Balloon race is a popular game mode where teams race to capture points on a circular donut-shaped map with plenty of map obstacles in the way. Every point captured increases your balloon speed, and the balloon is (supposed to be) the only thing allowing you to continue forward on the map due to large pitfalls between checkpoints. It’s a shame there’s no class designed to fly incredible distances without losing all of his health.

Oh, wait, there is one. And its the exact same one that beat cp_orange_x3.

SPUF vs. Discussions II: Reqiuem

================IMPORTANT INFORMATION====================== The Date:Saturday September 21th at 6pm GMT The Server: SPUF Custom server The Rotation: koth_badlands, cp_granary, cp_gullywash ================================================== ======= On the stroke of 2013, two forums met on a lonely snow-covered hill, then an old abandoned factory, and finally a lonely snow-covered abandoned factory. To settle an old dispute. To prove once and for all which forum was more deserving of the steam that powered it. In the ensuing battles, gibs flew freely, fallen hats marked their owners’ graves, and basically everyone involved had a great time. So now its time for a rematch! Like last time, it’ll… [Continue Reading]

Good Offensive Teleporter Spots on Payload maps

Boy oh boy do I love me some payload. At times I suspect it’s the most popular game mode in Team Fortress 2, probably because its asymmetrical nature keeps the battlefield fresh and changing, or because it always has the most visually exciting and dynamic map designs, or because it ends with a massive explosion.

Almost every payload comes with a particularly tough stretch. This is the hardest stretch for the attacking team, and usually pops up somewhere around the penultimate check point. It’s usually the longest stretch, and often the final stretch before the offensive spawn moves forward. All of these aspects are screaming “NEED A TELEPORTER HERE,” and everyone (including the defense) knows it. Here are some spots on popular payload maps that work brilliantly for you to stick your teleporter.

Each of these spots must fulfill three aspects: (1) They must be close enough to the final checkpoint so as to be useful to your teammates pushing the cart, (2) they must be moderately easy for you to defend, I’m thinking you should get at least 30 teleports in before anyone can kill you, (3) they must be hidden, to make #2 easier and just in general to keep enemies from knocking on your front door every five minutes.

Move that blog up!

I’ve mentioned once or twice that I’ve had problems with Blog.com. As much as I love the URL, it seems like our fair blog is constantly being set upon by data vampires, who eat unsuspecting blog posts in the night. We’ve already lost three blog posts to the dastardly beasts, as well as our “Write for us!” page. In addition, readers are reporting that they cannot always see new blog posts, and the scheduling feature has a habit of just not paying attention to the set deadline. So I’m going to migrate over to wordpress and see if that solves… [Continue Reading]

In memory of “The thread that itsurblog”

Friends, yesterday a great sadness fell upon the denizens of SPUF. A mainstay in the TF2 forum, a juggernaut of Biblical tendencies, a wretched hive of scum and villainy, is gone.

The thread that itsurblog has been locked.

At 5,843 replies, the thread far surpassed anything the TF2 forum had ever seen in its mere three months of life. It had a thriving community of its own and a long history of discussion. It housed character role-plays, thriving discussions on games and pop culture, erotic slash pairings of the regular posters, and on the rare occasion, something about Team Fortress 2.

Theories on the recent addition of Strange Cosmetics

As I covered a few days ago, Valve recently added “strange cosmetics” to TF2. Fair enough, Valve is doing weird things all the time with their TF2. But I’m curious as to why they chose the method, style, and selection they did, and today I plan to write about my theories regarding this recent update.

:P
I just realized I’ve never heard the name “Pomson” outside of TF2. Picture by FeelGoodInc.
