Oh hey, Invasion is here.

Oh hey, Invasion is here. And it’s pretty much replaced the Halloween event, running until November 5th with the Invasion Pass. Basically this update is a gigantic community Gun Mettle Update, with the contributors doing all of the work and Valve still getting a good bit of the rewards. Same as before, do challenges in-game on official servers and get weapons, or get special rare crates that need keys to open. Of course this is all locked to people who buy the pass, which is $2-ish, depending on where you’re from. So no stuff for people who don’t want to… [Continue Reading]

The Gun Mettle Update’s End is Upon Us

So I was idly chatting with Davjo about spaghetti and games yesterday when he mentioned that the current campaigns in CS:GO (Operation: Bloodhound) and Team Fortress 2 (Gun Mettle Campaign) are coming to an end today. This actually caught me by surprise. Had it really been that long? It certainly didn’t feel that long. Has it really been so long since the Vaccinator was made shit again? Clearly so. I’d ignored the whole damn event. A dear friend gifted me a middling Medi Gun, which was lovely of him, but I refused to shell out €6 for a campaign pass… [Continue Reading]

UFOs spotted! The End is Nigh!

There are aliens in TF2! There had been hints of a possible Invasion update for some time now, but Valve has actually done a great job of keeping this one under wraps, perhaps having learned from the toxic effect all the End of the Line hype had caused. Indeed, if Kritzkast hadn’t deflected the June trailer leak by pretending it was merely a community model pack, we would have had 4 months of absolutely nothing for the hype to do but fester. Well played, Valve. But now that actual UFOs are appearing in the skyboxes of the most popular TF2… [Continue Reading]

TF Comics #5 is FINALLY here!

The fifth installment of the TF Comic series is finally here, after a stupidly long wait. Amazingly, it actually landed on the Monday deadline, disappointing those who hoped it’d miss the bi-yearly and yearly deadline. This comic is 79 pages of your normal Team Fortress comic-y action, featuring not one but two teams! And some other people. And crazy stuff. As always. So what are you waiting for, go read it! Meanwhile, I’ll just sit here, waiting for you to come back. Because I want to bulk this article out a little bit. I don’t like short articles really. *waits… [Continue Reading]

Pass Time and other update and community stuff

I’m supposed to be working right now, even though I’m supposed to be on holiday too, but oh well. I want to write articles. Work can go fuck itself. Anyway, there’s a TF2 update that’s appeared out of nowhere. Apparently, Valve have been hanging out with with Bad Robot, who do films and stuff, and working with Escalation Studios (some other gaming company), and they’ve basically made TF2 Rugby. I’d call it Football or Soccer, but they are both lame sports. Rugby is what Saxton Hale would play, after ultimate fighting and hockey. This new Pass Time game mode (who… [Continue Reading]

MvM at Odoroki’s place

“Hey, Medic? Wanna play MvM?” Every Sunday, I get sent this message. It’s generally from Odoroki. If I don’t reply, there’s often a follow up message from Reima. They send me a request to join their game. Clicking on that request is a scary thing to do. Very scary. You never know what’s going to happen. All you know is that the game mode will be MvM. Somewhat. You see, Odoroki has his own little server. On it, he does a lot of strange things. Then he invites poor saps like me to test them. And Reima tries to record… [Continue Reading]

League of Legends needs a Sandbox. But we’re not getting one.

On August 5th, Riot games announced that they won’t ever be making a sandbox mode in which you can test various aspects of League of Legends. Which is a very stupid thing to say. Much of the community, not to mention many of us Champions, are up in arms about it. A sandbox has been one of the most requested features that players have been asking for for years (after a replay feature, which is also not happening). But while we were given a somewhat suitable explanation as to why, their reasoning for not wanting to build a sandbox was insulting.… [Continue Reading]

Holy shit this is the 800th article.

Bloody hell. The time has flown! Seriously it feels like a few weeks ago that we celebrated our 700th article. And I spent most of that article writing about how much I love you all and how I can’t live without you all and all that sort of stuff. I guess I kinda have to do the same for this article, but eh… Thing is, lately, it’s been pretty rough for both me and aabicus. Dear old Aaby has had spouse-based health issues, job-issues and house issues, while I’ve been taking on all the responsibility of running the family… [Continue Reading]

Godspeed, Satoru Iwata

It has been announced that on July 11th, 2015, Satoru Iwata, head of Nintendo Corporation, has died due to complications related to a bile duct growth. The gaming community, especially  Nintendo’s, has been wracked by this event, and has given their condolences.
